Don't tell the wife :P

One Antec Mini-Skeleton Mini-itx case with the Intel Mobo/Atom I got when I bought the Thermaltake Mozart TX case a while back - along with 2GB DDR2-800, a brand new DVD burner and the 200GB laptop drive that was in my laptop (turns out it wasn't dead). Threw a Windows 7 Starter installation on it and now being used as a dedicated Minecraft server for my son and I to play on :)

Took the cable-tie attached fan off of the CPU heatsink and it's running just fine with that big blue fan pushing air down onto the whole board...

I'd apologise for the cable mess but there really isn't a damned thing that can be done about it - the cables are pretty much all custom to the case/psu and there's nowhere to hide anything.

Part wedding present, part bonus : Grabbed a 27" 2560x1440 IPS LCD from Microcenter. I could have gone with the ebay ones, but I really like that this has VGA + DVI + DisplayPort on top of the DL-DVI. The scalar also performs quite well.

Really enjoying it so far. No dead pixels that I can find. Everything I thought was a dead pixel was a spec of dust. A little bit of blacklight bleed in one corner, but only noticeable on black screens and its far less than any of the other monitors I have. The extra resolution gives a major boost to productivity.

That is just the normal weatherby barrel profile. At current time I am just using factory 150 grain FMJBTs and factory Zombie Max JHPs I am currently shopping for a reloading press because I have picked out pretty much the most expensive readily available rounds there are as my primary calibers 45 and 308. I shoot a lot of 22 hahahaha.

I bought a 2013 Nissan Altima. First new car I have ever owned. My old car wasn't completely dead either. I kind of felt foolish for not trying to get another 100,000 miles out of the old Pontiac, but it's probably better that I upgraded.

Also got an ASUS MeMO Pad Smart 10. I was going to get a Nexus 7, but the wife said that that she and my daughter would rather have a larger screen. My child only uses it for games and the wife hardly touches it. I like the way it works for surfing the internet anywhere in the house.

The 10 inch Asus has an SD slot to expand the storage. Also got a micro HDMI to watch it on the TV. "Hungry Shark Evolution" looks pretty cool on an HDTV.

I've been putting off upgrading my main PC waiting for Haswell. Now that it's out, I might wait some more. It's hard to get something new when the old Core 2 Quad is doing just about everything you want it to do. There are some VM's that I can't run because the CPU doesn't have VT-X extensions.

Awesome! I'll trade you my 2nd generation G15 for it. Pleaaaase!?

You know .. after about the first ten minutes with it.. I would have taken you up on that! It took me a bit to get used to it. I have had my trusty old Microsoft Media Keyboard so long, that the layout and dimensions of the G710 is just enough different that I end up getting my home keys off by by a key.

I played a little Battlefield 3 and it will definitely take some getting used to. It seems like the the keystroke distance is longer then the most of the keyboards I have used before. I figure some of that is just a matter of it breaking in a little bit.

I broke down in a moment of weakness and bought the Corsair K70 mechanical keyboard. My first one and I love it! It's heavy and sleek and beautiful and feels like a new lover.

I've already ordered dampening o-rings and am considering different springs and keycaps. It only came with red LEDs but I've realized that I could de-solder those and install whatever color I want.....

Something is wrong with me.

Ooo, It's been bored and stroked with a new head, piston and arm to a 72cc (from a 49cc) so it's actually quite quick for its size since it happens that's a shared bottom end for a lot of old honda small engines (^__^)

I suppose it would make a neat work log for the "other mods" section =)

My latest purchase!

An ASUS P4C800-E/Deluxe Socket-478 mobo, with 4x1GB DDR400 CL3, 3.2GHz/800MHz Prescott, and ATI Radeon 3850 AGP ... woot, lol $20 well spent on craigslist

Evil microcode butchery and experimentation may now commence, mwoohahahaaa!

Although I'm sorta wanting a P4 Extreme CPU of some sort, maybe even one of those ridiculous new overkill DX10 AGP cards ... still, I've always believed it's best not to spend real money upgrading old tech to old tech.

They're on sale at Home Depot for $80. There's a couple other sets with the same drill, but one has a small (nearly useless) circular saw and the other is paired with an impact driver. One or both of those sets are $100.

got my i7 4790k cpu in the mail last week and picked up a 20th anniversary Pentium g3258 to mess around with overclocking and delidding practice. so far i've got the 4790k up to 5.2ghz @ 1.4vcore using a bucket of ice for cooling and the g3258 up to 5ghz @ 1.8vcore with the same bucket of ice.

i have the 4790k running at 4.8ghz for my 24/7 oc, just gotta run more tests for stability.

Moved into a new rental townhouse last month and started looking for a BBQ since I wasn't allowed one on the balcony of the previous apartment. After not finding anything compelling at the big box or appliance stores in my price range, I checked Kijiji and found a guy selling a Vermont Castings 5-burner Signature Series. Had to rent a 14' Uhaul to get a ramp so that I could get it home but now I'm thrilled to grill again!

It does indeed have an LED work light! Haven't done any night BBQing yet (doesn't get dark till after 9pm here now) so I'm not sure how much it helps but I'm certainly looking forward to trying it out when the winter comes and it's dark at 4:30pm.

Trust me Twigs, it's manlier in person :) Kinda dominates the tiny back yard I have, but totally worth it for $250! And it does make a mean steak ;)

(P.S. Hank Hill would love the rate it consumes propane at with all 5 burners open)

Well, I had to rent a truck because my car wasn't big enough and you're only a 1943 kilometer one-way trip away so at $.69/km round-trip + gas, a steak should cost you about $3500 CDN. I'd even have it marinating in the back the entire 18h20m that Google Maps estimates it would take so it would be delicious :) Let me know if I need to start packing ;)

Awesome new toys, yay! 8-core i7-5960X proc, Asus Rampage V Extreme X99 mobo, Kingston HyperX Predator DDR4-2400 CL12 quad-channel kit (4x4GB sticks), a beautiful Asus 27" 144Hz 1ms monitor with <gasp!> DisplayPort.

Alas I have no play money left for PSU, case, cooling, GPU cards, drives, or peripherals - I can't even afford a decent TIM, just using the robust but yucky stock cooling setup. Alright, I'm tremendously happy with my Das Keyboard and Logitech G502 mouse, so peripherals ain't an issue*. Cannibalizing what I need from my older system, running new stuff at conservative demigodly non-OC ratings (and continuing the sufferings imposed by my cantankerous old 600W Zalman PSU and greedy heat pig DVI-output Radeon 7800) until I can afford properly godly parts.

Mobo seems, shockingly, like a little bit of a lemon. Quite seriously, there are startup issues, OS restarts, and flaky non-persistent BIOS events. The sort of thing that usually indicates a crapped CR2032 battery, but they didn't stop after I popped in a new CR2032 (which measured 3.04V on my DMM). Perhaps because the mobo is attached to inferior things? Every single mount, bracket, screw, fastener, pin, jumper, connector, and setting checked and rechecked; perfect function of every cable and component confirmed in another system (except proc and RAM, of course, although RAM passed about 16 hours of burn-in without error) - nothing stressed or heated or overheated much beyond room temp. I just dunno wtf. Perhaps I should exchange for another (even for another brand/model?) while I still have 14-day return? Advice, recommendations?

* Alright, I just can't not complain, imperfect tech must always be improved. I think the Logitech G710+ mechanical gaming keyboard is quite nice, I'd probably want one - but only if/when Logitech offers a version with a whole LED backlighting rainbow. Gimme, gimme!

Been working on a fairly low-power system (save for the CPU, which is a power-hungry 32nm 8-core) just to push along modern games at a decent framerate, all wrapped in a good case that'll be easy to upgrade. (Yay thumbscrews!)

Specs:
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev. 4 Motherboard
XFX Double Dissipation Radeon R260X Graphics (2GB memory)
8GB G-Skill Sniper DDR3 1866
AMD FX-8320 (stock clock, for now)
Random WD 1TB HDD (waiting to purchase an SSD)
Corsair 620 watt semi-modular power supply
EVGA 120mm 5-heatpipe cooler
Lian Li PC-A75 Full Tower Case

Also, this magical little thing. Eventually gonna get around to replacing the factory inductors and main input cap to give it a little more low-end. Otherwise, the presence and tonality of this amp are great. Also, less than 25 bucks on Amazon, which was pretty cool.

I like that Lian Li PC-A75 Full Tower. Roomy, simple, elegant, dark, dominant. Kinda reminds me of Tron, vaguely. Looks like an excellent choice for my new half-build.

[Edit: I chose a Corsair Obsidian 750D Full Tower. Elegant and dominant enough, numerous happy reviews, looks like it gots everything I needs, and hella cheaper than that Lian Li beasty.]

Heehee, my crazy G502 Proteus Core Gaming Mouse laser works *perfectly* on glass surfaces. And it also works on mirrors - albeit a little sluggish and stuttery, but still way better than my olde 1000Hz/7200dpi GM8000X "Ghost" mouse. I just can't find any solid surface it won't work on. I most highly recommend this mouse! Alas, the LEDs only come in "Logitech Blue" (software lets you control intensity, optional pulsing "breathing" effect, profiles and functions for when/why LEDs work).

I've got one of those amps in my HTPC build. I love it. I got it because lots of people hail it as the low price hi-fi setup. It's awesome. Pair it with a set of these (http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-b652-6-1-2-2-way-bookshelf-speaker-pair--300-652) and an inexpensive sub woofer and you'll have a pretty sweet setup for less than $200.
