We don't seem to have one of these So I figured I'd make one.
First off I bought the R.A.T 9
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm81/895232/rat9_left.pngThen I also bought 4Gb DDR3 for my new 10" netbook

I've made no purchases (except for the odd steam game) recently. However I'm planning to buy some stuff from sparkfun after the 15th of Feb (depending on my bank balance) so I can grab some items for my project including some long distance (1mi/1.6km) Xbee wireless serial links, a GPS module (this is in doubt) and maybe some other things to experiment with again depending on my bank balance.

Last week:
XFX HD 6870 1gb
Patriot 2x4GB DDR3-2000
These upgrades didn't fix my desktop issues. As it turned out, the PCIe slots/bus is/are dead. Instead of trying to find a decent 775 replacement, I upgraded my 3-4yo system...
Earlier today:
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula
OEM AMD 1090T Black
Thermaltake Frio
Kingston SSDNow V+100 SVP100S2/64G
OEM 64bit Win7 Home for TRIM support
I'm hoping to get it Monday...but Tuesday is more likely. I'm concentrating as hard as I can in an effort to will it to come Monday though.:devcool: <--This guy also now owns my soul.
Now I'm just waiting on AC: Brotherhood, Crysis 2, Red Faction: Armageddon, Battlefield 3, Mechwarrior, Thief 4, and Skyrim in addition to half a dozen smaller games...

I know what you mean...my most recent 'purchase' was the oil company unexpectedly delivering $500 worth of heating oil two weeks ago.. Knocked out my savings for at least a month. :dead: ..on that note, off to home to build a wooden box to go over my filler port. -_^

was told it happens at least once a year.
as for my new purchase(s) my last was the glock 17 and the newest hopefully next week will be a Hornady Lock-N-Load AP reloading press + accessories for reloading 9mm. bad part is the $1000 bill, but the sooner i get it the sooner i have cheaper ammo.

What case are you using - I have to ask cos the Frio I reviewed is a BIG cooler and only fits in about 3 of the cases I have here at home - just too tall for most of them.... Awesome choice for a cooler by the way - I love it - but small it aint :p

Heh, yup. 550 gallon tank sitting in my basement. Unfortunately it was only about 1/4 full when I bought the place. They say that the first time they had a driver deliver oil to me they inspected the tank and found that it was a 270 gallon..which is interesting...because the tank is in my basement...which is locked... :P
Good news, though, is that I got an unexpected extra $70 on my paycheck this week...so now I have $75 to last the next 2 weeks.. :D

It will be temporarily (I like to think :)) installed in my Raid Max X9 with the side popped off. Eventually, all the above hardware will be submerged in cold oil in a custom tank.

since i've owned the glock i've put 1500 rounds down the barrel in 4 trips and have another 600 waiting to be used. i expect to put at least 10k a year. as well i can also buy some die's and a shell plate and i can start making what ever other calibre i want. (eg. 40 and 45 once i get the guns to go with it).
and unfortunately the cheapest ammo i have seen here was $13 a box + tax and i need to buy the case. so 4000 rounds for 1100.

A case of Sanbitter, I read a review saying it was the worst thing the guy had ever drank so I thought I'd use it to torture Pcclan
Heheheh, you want something really nasty, get some Cocaine "Unlabelled" nope, apparently we can call it Cocaine again (the energy drink (http://www.drinkcocaine.com/), not the psychoactive drug). Stuff is nasty...potent though...and it has the dubious distinction of being one of the few substances I have ingested that hurt just as much coming out (the proper outlet) as it did going in. :P

My latest purchase was an Acer G235hAbd 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6256830) to replace my parents' 19" CRT. It was a belated part of my Christmas gift to them, which was to build them a new PC. Their old system is a Pentium D 915 setup running XP which the motherboard has failed on. Rather than to attempt to resurrect it (though I may in the future), I started fresh. Their new system has a Phenom II X4 920, 4GB RAM, a 1TB Hard Drive & Windows 7. (Maybe a bit overkill for their e-mail & web browsing needs...nah!:D) Long story short, my parents have a sweet new machine & monitor.

lol. It's interesting stuff, really. It actually tastes pretty good, but don't drink it on an empty stomach....or by itself. It burns the lining of your throat...and everything else. It was really weird, I could actually consciously feel it the entire way through my system...all the way through.

Reloading is ultimately cheaper, more accurate, and definitely a worthwhile hobby. If I remember correctly reloaded 9mm by the 50 is somewhere in the sub 10 dollar range where as buying it at the local store for me was somewhere in the >20 dollar range.. also you can slug your barrel or measure it to get an accurate read on your barrel to produce a casting that is matched to your gun. Just my two cents but reloading is the way to go, I hope to throw in some extra dough on the mortgage to get a dillon 550b

sounds about right, the cheapest retail ammo i can get currently is about $15 for 50 (though i need to buy a case/1000 rounds at a time) rounds after tax vs about 10 after tax homemade. and that was including buying once fired brass. i picked up all my cases from the last 1500 rounds i used so i'm already set from that point.

All the game-pad-ish things I've seen like that are left-handed, actually. They're designed to replace the keyboard while gaming, so the expectation is that you're using the mouse with your right hand.

I got my state and federal like two weeks ago...
Of course, it's mostly gone now, but hey....
Yeah, I went ahead and actually read the explanation about why my Federal processing was delayed until the 14th...apparently there was some law passed (or repealed, or something, idk) that they wouldn't process anyone who it affected until after the 14th. ..of course, TurboTax wouldn't tell me what the relevant law(s) were... -_^
...and then I went back a read it again...
Apparently there was some law passed last month about itemized deductions. Specifically, for me, tuition, mortgage interest, and property taxes.

Haven't received it yet, but last night I bought a Corsair HX1000 on ebay. The guy was trying to do single-wire sleeving on the ATX connector and broke off some of the pins. So, a little bit of time putting new pins on (and I think I might go ahead and single-sleeve it too), and I have a basically new HX1000 for $174 shipped. :D That's a good $60 off Newegg's price, just because the guy couldn't be bothered to learn how to crimp connectors. :P
...and, I just realized that since it's ~5cm longer than my TX750, I'm going to need to move my pump...ah well, it's time I made it a proper mount anyway.

My last major purchase came courtesy of my tax return. I got myself a:
42" LG 42PJ350 720p Plasma HDTV (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0038W35EK/ref=oss_product) - I've no need for 1080p when our closest seat is 7ft from the TV.
Playstation 3 320GB with Move starter kit (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002I0K956/ref=oss_product) - The sports games for move are REALLY fun, and very realistic as far as the movements go. They also have multiple levels and achievements for each game, and they aren't anywhere near as stupid easy as the Wii sports. I also got Little Big Planet, a pink controller for the woman, another Move controller, and a really sweet dock (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041S1MVI/ref=oss_product) for it all. I also got Netflix for now, and Dish Network HD in a couple of weeks ($200 Amazon gift card after signup since I purchased the TV through Amazon)
Another cool thing I got after Christmas was a memory foam mattress (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EPMODC/ref=oss_product). It's made by a company called DynastyMattress, and for the last month me and the woman have loved it. This mattress directly compares with TempurPedic's $2500 memory foam bed.

the transfer went through on my 1911, and after spending 2 hours cleaning the oil they pack it with for shipping i shot 200 rounds through it later that day. then i ended up polishing the slide release, safety, grip safety, hammer, mag release, trigger and barrel bushing.

you wanna know how stupid laws are here in Canada.
this is legal to carry around (unloaded, trigger locked)
semi auto belt fed (unlimited rounds as long as it's a fabric belt)

lol, exactly. here in Banada any semi auto rifle is limited to 5 rounds per mag. and the only thing that stops the bad guy is a single rivet..... same with pistols, the limit is 10 rounds, so again a simple little rivet is all that needs to be removed.
Wow.
Now I feel SO safe.
Rather than design whole new guns, let's gimp it, and make it "harder" to cause bad things.

Some supplies to make my first knife-a preworked blade blank, spalted white ash (leftover from Mithril, natch) and brass pins, as well as bluing and files for filework on the tang. I know a fair bit about metalwork (worked in a bodyshop growing up) and with my failing right eye I'm doing what I can to enjoy the things I've wanted to do all my life. When we get home I'm building a forge to play with making my own damascus...
I won't say that I'm tired of PCs-I'm working on getting myself a quad-socket F system up and talking to itself, but it will be nice to work with something that will not be obsolete as soon as I put it down. I'm thinking about making the rest of my blackpowder supplies as well.
Benefits to living in the woods.

1982 Honda CM450E. Not in the best of shape...and there's no title...so I'm going to be taking care of that before I put another dime into it, juuust in case...but once you get past the basically shot seat cushion, every single light being broken (I'm sorry, most I could accept, but all of them? Was that really an accident? ), and a bunch of other stuff being dismantled, it doesn't actually look in bad shape. The engine, transmission, and carbs look physically fine (on the outside at least), the exhaust looks in good shape (so far) and there doesn't appear the be much rust on it. So, pull that stuff out, give it a good cleaning and a quick engine rebuild, and I think it'll run just fine. :D
What does the future hold for this bike? Well, some of it will be moving over the it's older, slightly smaller brother next to it under the cover (1980 CM400T), some of it will be going in the parts bin, but the rest of it.. Well, let's just say I'm going to be learning a lot about electric motor design over the next year or so.

You don't have to live in the south:twisted:. All gun laws are screwed because the only people that follow them are law abiding citizens. Criminals could care less what gets passed into law but tend to avoid guns that go to full auto because they are two bit hoods not federal kingpins. Newegg had a sale on 2Tb hard drives, and I need the storage pretty bad. My 1.5 is full and my 750g is pretty close as well. I got this for $70. Not bad for a need.

Now for the big purchase this week. My wife and I found an open box 55" LG LED LCD TV for $1200 at Walmart. I hate the place and the incompetence of the employee there . . . well, let's just say it was a nightmare. The good thing is that I managed to get a free Logitech Harmony 300 since they are morons and lost the remote for it. Also the guy dropped it and apparently it is "standard procedure to throw away the styrofoam the TV came in as soon as they unbox it. I have my doubts about that. It's not like this is the first time an open box product has been sold before. Anyway . . . a few months ago I sold tons of CDs and DVDs at Hastings. I have all the music on my computer and I hadn't touched the disks in forever, so it was time I just sold them all, even for a nickel a piece. It ended up totaling just under $200, so I hung onto the store credit and got a PS3 as well. From the PS3 purchase I got another $50 store credit as a promotion. Not bad.
http://modsandends.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/img_3155_800x600.jpg
The set up isn't finished. I'm refinishing/converting the credenza and the TV will be wall mounted and at some point I will get the surround speakers behind where I sit, but for now it's all just great.

Looks like not the fastest thing in the world (according to the internet it should be about equivalent to a modern 250cc 4-stroke), but should be a great first bike. And the curb weight is awesome! Makes it a lot easier to catch it if it starts to lay itself down it low speeds. Great price too; is it in fully working condition? I love the look of the 70's-80's cruisers (thus why I have two of them). :D Plus, if your state has similar rules to MD, it should be a lot cheaper and easier to register it since it's a historic vehicle. ;) Have you gotten your endorsement yet?

Fun story about two of those pieces.. The Crosshair (normally $224.99) was on clearance for $159.96. Then, because I was buying one of a compatible AMD CPU at the same time, I got another $40 off...for a total of $119.96! :D Then, the Koolance CPU-360 had a SKU for a $59.99 HDD on it for some reason..I didn't even notice until the guy ringing it up saw a HDD on the screen and no HDD in the pile. Long story short, their mistake was my gain..got a $99.99 CPU-360 for $59.99!
BTW, those little fans are insane! Seriously, they're just hilarious! Little tiny things, but they push just a stupid amount of air...well, at least it feels like it, coming out of them. 40mm x 56mm, 26.82 CFM, according to this site:

...at 57.7dBA. I know my AOC's will move more than twice that air with a lot less noise, but they just so funny! :D
On a sadder note, apparently they've changed their clearance policy.. :( It used to be that just anything on their clearance rack was whatever percentage off the rolling rate said. Now.... :(

Oh well, on the bright side, it looks like they're taking more off with the normal clearance prices on those items now.

My last purchase was the ASUS ATI HD6970.
Great card on it's own but don't be deceived by it!! (learned the hard way)
There is no driver support for it at all. they just started with putting some support for the HD68xx.
Probably going back to store to make a switch to GTX 580/570

how good is the projector?
I've only just got the PK102 and have only tried it connected to a PC projecting the desktop because that's all I really want it for with my next project, you have to set the desktop resolution to VGA 640 X 480 or SVGA 800 x 600 and the refresh rate must be set to 60Hz so up close to the projected picture it's not a really sharp picture for small text reading but I played a video from the PC using VLC player so you can adjust colour and brightness settings and sitting about 6-7 feet back from the picture it's quite acceptable but the darker the room the better for picture brightness.
I bought it second hand for £80 and don't think it's worth the money that some companies want for a new one, prices vary a stupid amount on amazon from £144 to a crazy £250.
I spent hours checking specs and details of many pico projectors and went for the PK102 because it's easy to connect to a PC with a dedicated VGA lead that comes with it, some projectors need adaptors and 2-3 leads to connect to a PC and some don't connect to a PC and only project what's stored from internal memory or memory cards/sticks.there are some videos about the PK102 on youtube. you don't want water in your paint :D
get one of these, it's similar to what I have on mine
http://cgi.ebay.com/Air-Filter-Regulator-Moisture-Trap-Compressor-Air-Tool-/220721748325?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33640a9965
If you're going to HF tomorrow pick one up there, and don't forget any fittings you'll need to hook it to your compressor
It takes the water out of your airline as it comes out of the compressor tank. When you compress air (to put it into the tank) it gets HOT. When it cools, you get condensation in the tank. As you use the air, some of that condensation comes out into your air tool, and if it's an airbrush it can clog the brush or ruin your paint job. they're cheap insurance :D

Nook Color with the gift money from my birthday.
Had to go through three of them to get one I was mostly content with. Dead pixels, loose bezel, and screen distortion when pressing on the screen made me return the first two. This one has a dead pixel in the corner, but I don't notice it as the menu bars are in the way. Least it isn't the center like the other ones.
Already running Android off a microSDHC card. Much more versatile that way. Have to pick up a faster memory card tomorrow if I feel like crawling out and dealing with stomach pain.

8800GTS/X was a heavy heavy heavy card. almost 4 pounds hahahah.
they did the heatsink on the 5770's brilliantly. and its got a turbo turbo sport fan hahaha. but the rest of it is basically just cowling.
http://benchmarkreviews.com/images/reviews/video_cards/ati_radeon_5770/ATI_Radeon_HD5770_HSF-Duct.jpg
I also like the fact that the card has two possible exits for air.
1120 cores... man your going to tear a@# through any video game you play! Its sad to see that software is lagging behind hardware capabilities these days ( I blame consoles getting popular)
It used to be you get a game, and nothing on the planet can run that game good... now-a-days it seems even 2nd or 3rd generation cards can play todays games at about the highest settings possible.
Need to hurry up with the Xbox 540 and playstation 4 so i can finally make use of my DX11 features like tessellation and volumetric physics smoke. because ported DX9 games are pretty flippin' plain looking these days compared to the PC only titles with DX11 and full features.
Nice heatsink on that 5770. I guess they decided not to sink any of the memory or mosfets? That'd pretty much make full-coverage waterblocks unnecessary; just stick on a universal and you're covering everything that the original did. :D

Been meaning to post this for a while. The server wasn't a purchase as it was excess stock and all I had to do was sign a form saying I would dispose of it responsibly when I was done. I did purchase the 2U wall mount bracket and the Sans Digital TowerRaid TR5M+B though. Finally have it running the copy of WHS 2011 I picked up from blueonblack a while back.

Specs:

8GB DDR2 667MHz ram (only 4GB installed atm)
2x 73GB 15K SAS hard drives on a PERC5i Raid card
External enclosure has 2x 250GB SATA2 WD drives in Raid 1, 2x 250GB SATA1 Maxtor drives in Raid 1, and a JBOD 1.5TB WD Green drive.

The server was free since it was going to be disposed of. The wall mount and raid tower cost about $200 CDN as I got the tower on sale and the wall mount through connections with a tech supplier. The whole thing set me back less than $300 with the OS, though I did lose a few days figuring out how to set up the server since it needed major updates on pretty much everything.

It's currently running Windows Home Server 2011, though I had installed Server 2008 R2 for a bit while I comtemplated running WHS in Hyper-V. Once I figured out how to do the WHS install on a drive smaller than 160GB I switched because I didn't need the added features or complexity that 2008 brought.

But... It's not the newest shiny thing made by Apple.

Which is why I bought it. I'm not a huge apple fan but the ipad is really good for kids. + it only cost me $400 for a 32GB version

Next week, they'll be $200. Nobody wants the '2', when there's a '3'.

Technically, there is no 3, it's just "The iPad."

I just grabbed my first semi-professional camera, A LUMIX DMC-FZ47

It's first photo was this:

But more exciting for me is I got my first car, A 2002 PT Cruiser

I also grabbed a new audio deck and adapter plate, so I'll snap a picture of that when it goes in

i always thought the pt cruizers were neat retro cars. like little 40's style panel trucks. definitely a "usable" vehicle.

naw i don't think so. if he had, he would have told me about it. he told me about the oil light acting funky, but then it really acted up the day i was going to actually pick the car up, so he gave me my check back until he fixed it. and then put new bearings in for me just to make sure the bottom end was as good as it could be without a complete rebuild.
btw, i got the car from my best friend of 20 years. he is noted for being one of the best saab techs in the mid-atlantic region.
also, the check engine light went out this morning, lol. i guess it got scared that i was getting a scanner and was gonna f*** it up! hahaha

I prefer my router to be flipped the other way, and be pushed around under computer control. Nice looking table though.
