well this is a Q&A section. So lets start with an answer.

Soap. In about a week mine should be complete, cloth, casing and all. I just ordered a cheap wireless mouse from newegg and ive got a radio shack near my place so all is good so far. although i may end up using recycled parts, whatever works. this is going to be used as proof of concept before trying to improve button orientation and the like. even though I have a few ideas in mind for that already. I'm going to be teaching my roomie the basics of soldering and other basic modding skills so that she can start on her own projects with the half finished case im including with the parts im selling her

something tells me that would be like turning a mouse upside down and twizzling the ball. is it really slow?

also, i hate that fabric. it feels all weird (like pins and needles :P).

intriguing device.. be sure to post the worklog in detail :) i'll bet people would watch this.. so if it's nice, we can all have our own soapy mouse :)
(i'm downloading the files now.. could be a nice gift..)
edit: there are tons of fun stuff on the page you linked.. nice.. gonna have some reading material :)

hey... that looks like what i was pondering in my touchpad keyboard thread. i absolutely HAVE to see how this turns out because that would be a very slick device for normal desktop use. games... i dont know about that unless its a slow game, not like halo or quake.

the button orientation might be a good place for my touchpad idea. no more mouse clicking or buttons of any sort... all touch sensitive.

it doesnt appear to be slow at all actually, there should be a link to a video of a first time user playing UT2004 using only the soap mouse and the keypad and he was doing pretty good considering he had never heard of the device let alone used it.

ok after having read through the how-to and watching those movies... i dont like the idea anymore. no where near what i was thinking at first. i guess this wont help me or be interesting after all.
