ive gotten a lot of games off of direct-2-drive, and considering its a stand alone exe file, unlike most game discs, its the only file you'll need. i wouldnt run the exe off the disc though, it would prolly be smoother to install the game and save a backup on the disc.

i should have guessed it was more than just a single cds worth of data. -_-

if you dont mind me asking, why are you putting it onto a disc? im assuming its so you dont have to download it again, but i thought id ask instead of sticking with my assumption.

i believe i have a method for getting a single file of any size onto a series of cds, but i dont know how well it would work. it would basically consist of several steps:

1. Create a dvd image that includes the file mentioned, and save that to your hard drive.
2. Mount the image using a program such as Alcohol 120%.
3. Rip the dvd image as if it were a regular dvd, but be sure to enable the option that allows the new image(s) to be devided into segments that would fit onto a typical cd-r(i believe there is a 700mb option intended for this purpose)
4. Using your choice of cd burning software, burn the images to cd(alcohol 120% does this very well).

I've never had the need to put one large file onto multiple cds, so i cannot promise this method will work. Also, i'm not exactly sure how to um...you know...reverse the process and get a single file out of the cds you just burnt.
-_-
There is most likely a better option available, but i don't know what it is. heh.

umm buy a dvd writer at $40 its well worth it

or if you must Winrar can split files into segments of various sizes dependant on how big the storage medium is

im putting it on the disk because i have about 8 gigs just sitting there on my hard drive i want it out, so i figured putting it on a disk would be the best idea

i have dual layer dvds that can hold 8.5g so it should only take one disk to do it

so, why is the file being over 2 gigs a problem? what exactly gave you that message about using something to put it on the disc. If its simply a storage issue and downloading it a second time a problem, why not just erase the file? you wont be needing it until you need to reinstall anyways.
