I have a Dell 4700, but I do not know if it is the same size as yours. Why not bust out a ruler and measure it? Average mobo's and computer mobo trays measure at about 12"x9.6" (inches). So as long as it is under those measurements, I don't think you will have a problem. My mobo is 10"x9", which fits within any standard ATX computer.

You do realize of course that you are on a computer "modding" forum? For a computer modder, I would have to say that the only case that "sucks" are cases that are "pre-modded" to the point where even if you ripped it to shreds and started completely over that it just wouldn't be worth it in the end. Which is a good reason why alot of people buy a "blank canvas" such as those *cheap-o Rosewill cases. Less prep work means more modding work, period. *If you are going to buy a "cheap" canvas to work on, make sure it is built sturdy and strong, none of that flimsy crudola! <- TIP: Read lots of reviews ;)

For a great example of taking an ugly case (imo) or a "blank canvas" and turning it into a masterpiece, check out Defyants Hp Res 3 Mega (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=550) work log. Or if you want to take a GREAT canvas such as the lanboy, check out Paul Capello's (aka Crimson Sky) work log for Doom3: Project Mars City (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1).

EDIT:
Actually I just thought of something... MDCS took one of those horrid "extreme pre-modded" cases and turned it into a thing of utter beauty!! *Clicky* Lambo Mod *Clicky* (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2257)

on a budget lol but they have alot of potential to mod

that sounds about the same as mine. are those measurements "micro atx"? i won't be doing that extreme modding to it like the links you posted.

but thanks for defending me :)

Ha, I know how that feels! No one ever said you had to have the nicest of the nicest stuff to mod though right? A mod is a mod, price has nothing to do with it. ;)

Heck, I modded a CD-Drive into a hidden piggy bank and it didn't cost me a dime!

You know, actually I often wonder about that because of the 4700's case size... They stand at about what? 14.5-15 inches tall? Which to me says "Micro", but then again the Lian Li G50 is a standard ATX and stands at a mighty 15 inches. (lol mighty, heh heh, that things tiny)

So to answer your question, No, I believe those are ATX measurements. They are a bit smaller than most every other ATX motherboard I have looked at though. Might cause you some problems if the stand offs and what not don't line up in your new case. But this IS a modding website, so take the one out of your 4700 with a dremel and slap that thing into your new case!

and thanks for defending me :)
Bah! Don't thank me, we all have different views about things and there isn't anything wrong about that. But he didn't contribute to this thread so I thought that I might as well have a go at it. ^^

well i also heard that the power switch has an effect on fitting issues, like the wire isn't long enough or something, i can't remember what. oh and ive never used a dremel :)

Everything is possible, Dell motherboards are in the proprietary form factor = their Usb cable plug and the power switch plug only fit on their mb and only the heatsink mb mounting holes are off-set to fit only dell cases. I transfered a dell2350 into a Antec solution model # SLK2650-BQE, thats how I know the above facts. It can be done with some work, time and patience.

He admits it can be done though!

You could always buy a cheap-o P4 mobo for about $80 US Dollars off of newegg. Even those are better than dell's! lol

i thought about that, but, that would mean i'd have to buy a new windows xp cd since my dell windows xp cd will only work for...sadly enough, dell.

I might get in trouble for saying this... but luckily it is late and the mods might not even see it until tomorrow if at all.

Two words then my friend, Ghost it.

I'm not saying anything more than that for fear of being banned, if at all. I am blissfully unaware of whether doing such a thing is legal or not.

Google is your friend. ^^
