breaking stuff only counts if it still works.
:O You have the same motherboard as me! We're like, e-brothers or something!

Hehe new title; Accidental Modder!
Did you hear about the kid that got arrested for opening his christmas present early? The mom wanted to teach him a lesson and called the cops... (looking for link now...)
EDIT: Found it: http://www.heraldonline.com/109/story/9901.html
Why do I feel like kicking that little kids ass?

Here's hoping for that accident not to happen.
I read the link you posted Airbozo... that's just insane.
I don't know what to make of it.
I mean.
Lord. He got arrested, because he opened up a xMas gift early.
There is something seriously wrong with that.
I can't quite nail it down... but it's just wrong IMHO.
Poor kid.
Poor mother.
Poor GameBoy Advanced.
UPDATE!!!!::: :D :D
Ok, 1st pic... mobo @ home... happy with all 9 screws "screwed in".
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o196/45NN2121/installation2.jpg
Oooo.... I've got a "Digital HOME" inside the case now. :)
Oooo... shiny stuff!
OMG Ponnies!
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o196/45NN2121/installation5.jpg
RAM installed.
I like the heat sinks they put on them... but their warranty stickers cover about 25% of one heat sink's side.
And if I remove it... I void the warranty.
I guess I'll just have to get some anti-breaking-while-removing-the-warranty-sticker fluid (TM) in there. :)

God I've been out of the tech loop for long.
I was impressed when I saw that the processor doesn't have "pins" at the bottom. Rather, it has these contact "pads" (for lack of a better engineering term).
Pretty cool. I didn't touch neither the processor, nor the mobo's socket contact parts... but I wont deny that I wanted to! :p

Booya!!!!
Technology IN THERE!!!
w00t w00t !!!

Heatsink... installed.
I was worried to bust up the mobo by installing it, but it went in without a fight.
Just one side-note for Intel Corporation::: Do you guys think you could make your instructions sheet a *little* bit bigger? I don't think 47square feet of paper is enough. And... can you add some *more* languages to your instructions? I think you guys missed Aramaic. (j/k)
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o196/45NN2121/installation11-1.jpg
AHA!!!
Video!!!
I see no radio.... so video DEFINITELY killed the radio star.
Unless we count the WiFi...
Last video card I had in my hands was a 3dfx.
Yes, a 3dfx. Or was it an "Imagine 128"? hmmm.... :?
QUESTION:::
The WD hdd came with this wierd SATA cable.
(( well, 1st time I've encountered a SATA cable, so I don't know why *I'm* in a position to call it wierd ))
Anyway, it's called "WD SATA Cable with Secure Connect".
It covers the SATA connection and the power connection.
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o196/45NN2121/installation12.jpg
[[[ in this picture, the blue cable is the "Secure thingy thing". The orange ones (still in bag) are the ones that came from ASUS ]]]
But if I use this new cable, I plug in the typical molex plug (as per the instructions).
If I use the typical SATA cable, I... :? :? :?
Anywhich one I should pick?
Please, nobody give it more than 1minute thought... it's just a random question.
I guess it'll work with both.
THANKS for the comments guys!!!!
I was going to do everything, then upload... but this is a live blog... Ooo yeah!
Thanks to Mr. :santa:
Update to follow soon. :D :D :D

First, nice job with the early Christmas stuff!
Second, I have the exact same board, exact same ram and the E6700, what a coincidence!
Third, you should put your RAM in dual-channel mode, put each one on the orange slots.

Cool!!!
Dude, I just changed the RAM to one in each orange slot.
I guess I would have known that if I had read the instructions. :p
Oh well... thanks!!!
Cool coincidence.
Do you use the remote control of the board?
I'm thinking with that thing.... some moddin' will go into it.
I'll be bothering you for help with this board Indy! :)
Ok, if you insist, I envy you 2 ;)
Dude, Santa is coming to your house. :)
Don't worry... he's on his way. :D
Erm.... I'm going to power her up.
Going to shut down my laptop, as I need the monitor (nice ViewSonic flat VA1912wb)... I also need the keyboard and mouse.
Anyway, I'll update soon... !! w00t w00t!!!
THANKS for the help and comments !!! :) :) :)

The remote's pretty sweet, but you can't really use it as a media center remote. The nicest thing of all is you can turn your comp on/off, quiet the fans and other stuff. make sure you plug it into one of the labeled USB ports, otherwise you can't turn it on (A couple of review sites made that mistake)

Most definitely...
But that's not just the case on this board, you should do that with every board. In case you didn't know, its called a dual-channel configuration (orange & orange or black & black) and you'll get more performance than a single channel configuration (orange & black).
But man do a lot of people have this board! Theres like 6 people I've seen on here who have it...

Use the WD Cable. It's better. WD Cable/Molex for powah.

Hey guys... thanks for the replies.
Use the WD Cable. It's better. WD Cable/Molex for powah.
I tried using the WD cable, to no avail.
I line it up correctly, and insert it... I would say that at the last 15-20% of the way, one side jams.
I still can't pin-point why.
I don't see any extra plastic material (like fabrication left-overs)... I don't see anything in the female side of the connectors... I removed the hdd to make sure it wasn't interference with the case...
Nothing. Zilch. Nada. Zip.
That thing will not go in.
Unless I'm missing something (big possibility on that one).
//////////////
My present situation:::
I'm trying to get the hdd running right.
I have running the basic SATA (not the WD one :( )... and it's plugged into SATA1 port.
But, it registers as the "Third IDE Master".
I checked the jumpers, and no jumpers are present (I mean, the hdd has jumpers, but none are "jumped"). I checked the instructions, and that's how it should be (no jumpers = cable select).
But it still goes into Third IDE Master.
DVD drive works. :)
I partitioned the HDD.
As DaveW said, I first made a 12GB partition...
Then I made another 150gb for windows stuff.
Then a 50gb one so I can install Linux and finally start playing with it.
And... I think the rest, I partitioned also (sorry, I'm away from the rigg right now).
I don't understand what's wrong with the hdd.
Any ideas? sorry if it's overly n00b the solution
........ One last item please:::
The fans... is that it?!
I mean, I got the 120mm fans... one in front of the hdd "cage", another at the back of the case.
They... erm... um... they're lethargic.
They barely blow air.
I was expecting much more from them.
Is this normal?
They're plugged directly into the 4-pin Molex plugs.
The processor's fan, I've left alone (for now) and plugged as it should go into the mobo.
Hmmm.... I'll post another update soon... at least, I can run Knoppix... found the CD... under my pillow... wierd.
Thanks everyone! :)
AJ
I sort of knew that, but wasn't completely informed about it. I'll go switch it right now.
What exactly is Digital HOME? :P
Is that a function? maybe a chipset? or maybe a snazzy brand name?

I would go with snazzy brand name.
:)
