well as I stated a few weeks back, I've got a now dead X-box. Nice little powersurge, several load pops and some very interesting looking scortch marks on the mainboard, gives ya one dead X-box. Well no real loss I've got 3 others. So I decided to use the case for a new project. Namely a set-top style Computer system. Well I've done research into parts and think I've put to gether the peices I need. These are the parts and prices I'm looking at from Mini-ITX.com. If anyone knows where I can get this stuff cheaper (other then Ebay) by all means, lemme know.

The prices look ok, except for the RAM; that's just rape. Look on newegg for DDR2 667 RAM from Kingston; $70

Edit: Link, (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820134045) cuz I feel a little generous. :D

OOooooh....can't wait to see this. Console mods are my favorite!

What OS are you planning on running?

Yeah...ouch on that RAM. Unless it is some kind of special type, I would try to get it somewhere else. Mitternacht has a good suggestion, Newegg has good prices...You may also want to check out Mwave.com, I have bought RAM from them and they are pretty decent as well:

If you don't care what brand it is (Mwave brand seems to work fine, my girlfriend has it in her computer):
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=BA20518&RSKU=BA20518 is 60 bucks, and if you do care, the prices hover around 70 for a 1 gig stick from the big brands.

Hope that helps, I would love to see how this goes.

I'm just gonna load a copy of Window Media center on it since I've got, I know it works and I know how to deal with it when it doesn't want to play nice.
