I know there is a thread similar to this, but I didn't want to hijack it.

On to the problem... While playing EQ2, my computer will randomly lock up. It's an older computer (3-4 years old anyway) P4, 350 watt PSU, 1gig RAM, and nVidia 7600 (I think).

Any ideas off the top of your head?

Thanks

Is it only when playing EQ2? - if so then it's not random....

Is a 350Watt PSU gonna be man enuff?

I'd be tempted to try out a bigger one.

It used to run pretty stable with the 350, but it just recently started acting up.

It's not overheating is it? Check that your fans are running properly.

If it's only happening when you are playing EQ, then I'd think it's an overheat problem. Maybe let it cool down for awhile, and then put it to work on something else. If it locks up again when working hard, I'd definitely think an overheat.

Also, what OS are you using?

dust is a PC killer. make sure everything is cleaned regularly, especially if you live where theres lots of dust(as one would figure, lol).

to test system stability, i suggest running benchmarks on things like CPU, RAM, and GPU seperately, for a good ammount of time for each. Using Sandra and the newest version of 3Dmark should do the trick for that.

do you play anything else thats graphically intensive?

It could be what they are saying or it might be the game (maybe a patch messed something up) as playing EQ2 sometimes messes with my computer and my girlfriend's and they both are brand new (the parts are anyway)
