Asimo would kick his ass, steal his robot girlfriend and then hop on a CBR1000RR and take her out for sushi.

The noises that first robot made as it walked were creepy. Thats what your going to hear as it slowly makes it sway to your bed room to assassinate you.
Of coarse with the pace that thing seemed to be walking at you could probably get away pretty easily.

Why, aren't you a cheerful soul....

HAhaha... funny stuff.
I was watching that video, and, I think (just from watching) that he fell down because his left foot, was probably on the edge of the stairs.
When he goes to put pressure on it, I think it slips and he goes down.
To be honest, I don't know why the hell they covered it up.
If I were the super mega proud owner/creator/engineer of that robot, I wouldn't mind if it fell down the stairs during a presentation.
I mean... it's a robot.
Not the best that it didn't pass that 'simple' test, but, what the heck.
Now that we're in the talk of robots...
What do you guys think about 'humanoid' robots?
I just see them... ???
I mean, why 'humanoid' shape?
Why not a center body with, say 6 extensions?

Because man likes to make things in his own image.
Besides, any time you see a Sci-Fi movie from the past, robots stand and walk.
And radio active goop is green.

Humanoid robots? Are they sex-equipped? :p I know. It's the geek question right there.

What a strange thing to say.
Are you weird?
Or just looking to branch out into robo-porn?
Or am I missing the point?

I don't think you're quite geeky enough yet Drew.

Once you have learned the ways of the geek, you will understand the significance of Dave's post...
Educate me, O Yoda like entity.
I take it you're referring to the 'first android is creepy' thread.
Readed it, still don't get it.
maybe I 'aint cut out to be a geek.

First I had to teach you to spell (litre NOT liter, colour NOT color) and now this. And the servo control from Crimson. And clusters. And 5 pointed sherriff badges in Texas.
Now robo-porn. What next?
The mind boggles.
My brains gonna go pop.

Dave, weren't you the one that said you didn't want to see anything sex related on here? Or at least not pr0n? Kinda like a hypocrite, eh?
Ahhhhh.... but it's tech related, and that makes it OK...

I don't think Dave's 'equipment' question should be under scrutiny here...
More the fact that you consider robots so much sexual, that they're pr0n.
You need help buddy.
But that's why we're here for. :D

Maybe help getting a clue.
Just kidding... I've had problems with not really social skills, they're fine, just lack of experience and I'm quite nervous around people that I haven't known for too long, or those I really try to be friends with, but end up failing...

w00t ! :)
Happy to see we're in good terms :)
I'm really interested with your social skills dude...
I mean, for real?
I think it's very insightful what you said about "those I really try to be friends with, but end up failing...".
I mean, you didn't fail.
Think of it that THEY failed.
Your life kicks ass.
Your life is SUPER interesting, cool, diverse, FUN, amazing, spontaneous, etc.
You shouldn't be nervous around people.
Look, life is really, really, really short.
In addition, the possibility of us dying before 'old age', is pretty high. So life is even shorter still.
So, with that insight in mind, why not go bonkers and talk with all sorts of people!!
I mean, really.
Just, talk.
I swear buddy, the more you do it, the easier it'll be.
And girls... my suggestion?
Start talking and be-friending girls ASAP.
If you have lots of female friends, you'll fall right into Advanced Course Social Skills... I promise.
Women are constantly thinking about these things... the way they communicate with the world, shows a deeper understanding of many un-spoken things. "Quirks" of society.
The extra bonus, other than the AP course, is the fact that you have lots of female friends.
And that in its self kicks ass.
It'll be much easier for you to actually hook-up with girls you like, once you're sorrounded by girlfriends.
It's never too late.
It's never too soon.
Go for it buddy...
Always remember, YOU are the prize... not them. :)

Why not?
If you don't have a printer, write out what you liked.
The highlights... the ones that increased the fire in your belly a little bit.
If you want a constant reminder, what I did when I started, is to get a 'charm' or something.
Something to always have with you (not a pencil, or your keys...).
Something like, a new (to you, at least) bracelet that you like... a ring... o necklace... a wood carving you can put in your pocket...
Something that'll remind you constantly.
Well, hold on... I don't want you to think this is a do-or-die thing.
I mean, screw it.... don't give it much thought.
But, it did help me when I wanted to 'reach out'.
Always forward man... always forward. :)

Pfft... being a bit more open socially do or die? Yeah, right. I'm happy right now, but do need to gain a few more friends. I'll have to try carving something later on then... or make something out of clay when I get the chance again...
OMG, this has turned into a self-help kinda thread.
Or is what your doing, AJ, called dynamic balancing... kinda like karma or summat?
Share your wisdom, yoda like entity... share your wisdom.

Bah!
I would wish I was a Yoda-like-Entity... although, it would rather make hard attracting girls with the green skin and pointy ears.
Well, it could be a positive note...
Well, anyways... if you (Drew) or ProgBuddy want to start up a new thread so we can discuss other types of Dynamic Balancing, fine by me.
I think that if it's an interesting thread, our Admins will be happy to have it.
I'm not sure about 'karma' and 'summat'.
You ask if I have "a girl"....
Well, what do you mean by "a girl"?
Because, well... the other day, I called two or three friends to go out, and then it hit me::: my gosh... I have more female friends than male friends!
Which is wierd, but cool. Very useful.
I can break them down into, mainly, two groups:::
1- Girl friends (friends that are girls)
2- Girlfriends (girls that are very good friends)
Before reaching the various 'girlfriends', I definitely worked on having various girl friends.
And as was said, when you go out with 2-3-4 or even 5 girls, and you're just hangin' out with them... chillin' out... having a good time... well, it's just easier for you to talk-up other girls you don't know.
Women are the most interesting species of them all.
Again, my advice is to start making friends with girls ASAP.
Realize, that the world is full of girls.
There's an utterly amazing surplus of cute girls.
Don't go having a crush on the first girl that's your friend.
What you want, is to be friends with her, and friends with her friends.
After a while, they'll see you as a reliable friend... not a guy that'll try and nail them at first hesitation on their part.
There comes a very interesting balance in all this, and I think it's very crucial to mention to you (Drew) because you're young (or am I wrong?)::: DON'T BECOME A WUSS!
Don't let yourself get 'molded' to what they want.
Lest you'll be completely un-productive in what you're trying to achieve.
I've seen guys, and they're like the big teddy bears.
Yeah, they're sorrounded by girls... but these girls treat him like the big, huggable, squishy, "Tommy".
Screw that.
Present day society (2007) is very, very *demanding* of men.
To be a "real man", is hard.
Plus, we're getting constantly molded into being these goodie-good guys that help mom with the kids and go mow the lawn and wash her car when she asks.
Screw. That.
That. Screw it.
Sheeeshhh.... we could go off into a very arguable tangent here... but let's keep it straight.
I'm not talking about going back to the Stone Age and beating women with a club over the head.
I'm not talking of going back 100 years and taking women's right-to-speech away.
I AM talking about standing up.
Being a man.
Not being a wuss.
You'd be amazed how much society (and women) try to bend you into their liking. And once you're bent to how they want, they discard you, because, in reality, that wasn't what they were searching for.

My god.... I just read this post.
I don't know what came over me.
It's 7:30am... been awake waaay too long.
Gonna go start the day.
Please let me know if you'd like me to expand/clarify anything else Drew.
And start that thread if you deem necessary. :)
Best wishes to all,
