These guys made a CD phonograph out of an old discman. http://www.jieyu-design.com/producthtml/cdplayer.html

I've seen cd windows before but not the CD fully exposed. Anyone tried this and have a worklog for it? CD upside down or better, would be right side down. I'd like to know which CD/DVD player that you used also.

Thanks!

Interesting... I should try this with mine... CD's are boring now with all the mp3 on the market and all my music digitized. Ok, this might be the last live of my CD player :)

I'm wondering if that actually works. I bet if sunlight or just some bright light was near the laser, it would mess up the sound. That laser has to move on the arm too; must've been awfully hard to make.

I have doubts also that it actually works. More a proof of concept I'd guess. It made me wonder if it would be possible to take one of the laptop drives that has a locking hub to make something similar except the CD would be flipped the right way.

I too have doubts as to if that really works or not.

Looks cool though. Has a bit of a steampunk look to it.
