Would this work as a Power Button?

It's a tape recorder record/pause button.
I'd rather not cut the 1/4" Plug off if its not going to work.

I assume I will find a red and white wire inside along with the ground loom.
That would give me 3 wires instead of 2 for wiring it to a 2 pin jumper wire for pwr.

Anyone Know?

as long as its a momentary switch, I would say yes, it will work. Not sure why you think it has 3 wires though?

Probably just a push button inside. So only 2 wires. May not have red/black/white or other identification, but it doesn't matter it word on both side, not like a capacitor.

I have RED, WHITE, and BLACK.
Even if it doesn't work I don't have a recorder anymore anyway.

I hooked the Red to Red and White to White. . didn't work.

I think it has the black wire because it has a Tiny LED in there, may need to be powered.
I'm going to try it out on a old CDRom.

LOL, that would have been usefull info in your first post.

The black is ground, then you just have to figure out which wire is for the led and which is for the switch. Pretty easy to figure out. :)

Whoooo Hoooo. . :banana: It Works!
I hooked the Black wire to the White and the Led came on and stayed Lit For Reset, just didn't do anything.
Hooked it up to Power and it was only lit while pressing the button, still nothing. .

I hooked the Black wire to the Red wire and It acts as the PWR button and Reset just no Lite from the LED.

so the red wire is your led... hook it up to your power led out on mboard and you should be all set.

Done! Not sure why I needed a power button with a 15' Foot cord.
It's preddy Kewl none the less. . My first Custom Power Button.

Soldered, Shrinkwrapped, and Ready for Action. :)
