Well everyone will have seen the news by the time they read this. But in case there are any mod-hermits alive, seven confirmed dead, 60 hospitalised, unknown number missing but thought small. Not terrorism, structural failure possibly brought on by engineering work - described as "resurfacing" however a neighbour of the bridge said if that was the case it was "very significant resurfacing" because it involved drilling holes right through the bridge "I used to look up and see the sky through the bridge".

Before anyone makes the joke: I've removed it.

Before anyone makes the joke: The local authorities have confirmed that the holes in the bridge were not being lined with UV reactive substances and covered by plexi-glas windows. "This was not a bridge too far".

I uh...don't get it

Heard about this earlier.

That's some pretty crazy **** right there man. Reminds me of the section of I-580 that collapsed here in the Bay Area a month or two ago when one of those trucks that carry gas took a turn too quickly, tipped over, spilled gas and caught on fire, ended up melting the metal and the section collapsed RIGHT over another section (of 880 or 80 or something like that), there probably would have been a lot of injuries and/or deaths (it's quite a ways off the ground, cars would have probably fallen off) if it weren't at like 4 in the morning.

There is a CNN exclusive video of the collapse of the bridge.

JEsus!
I didn't see any cars falling over in that video... but still, wow.

As to the guy that distributed it, he's screwed if he shouldn't had done that.
I mean, how hard is it to determine where that camera was placed... and ergo, conclude who gave the video away?

Still, amazingly sad.
Best wishes to all of them and their families.

I did, there is a care right by where the bridge seperates.
Its a dark colored spot.

This really sucks. I hate it when disasters happen like this. My guess would be the bridge go so old that water go into places it shouldn't have and rusted out steel from the inside.
