Alarm Clock Radio Mod

So after the speaker on my clock radio died this morning, I thought I might as well change the display colour while I was in there.
After far too much time, tracing wires and figuring out why replacing LED for LED wasn't working I finally got everything sorted out. And the display went from a pale green to a pale blue. Please note that the pictures look a lot more vibrant than they appear in action.

Nothing big, but it was fun and it looks a hell of a lot better. And as it starts to get darker, the blue is much more intense. I'll take a night shot and add it in later.

IMO the green looked better, but i guess thats personal preference.

it would have been sweet to make the led's sound activated so when the alarm goes off it flashes to the annoying beeps :)

thanks SgtM, the blue looks AWESOME in the darkness.
@ D1337, the Green wasn't bad, but after having the clock for 3 years it was boring. And since the only colour I had to work with was blue thats what I have. I love it, but will probably change it sometime soon when I get other colours in 3mm or 5mm LEDS.

i would rather hook up the speaker wire to my 2-foot tall amp so when the alarm goes off i am deaf for the rest of the day and can't hear my mom yell at me ;) but i guess thats personal preference.

haha that'd be fun. its kind of hard living in a condo to have such nice speaker equipment though:<. I miss the house.
But this clock is ridiculously vibrant at night. There were originally 6 LED's in this clock, now there are 8. It's been tough adjusting to so much light in the bedroom haha.


Edit: I guess I should post that this mod is complete in case it is to be moved.

Should get a couple of LEDs which change from one colour to the next!
