You won't find the veneer sheets anywhere other than the kitchen fabrication shops. Price wise they're only a bit more than an MDF or chipboard sheet making it 1/2-2/3 the price of ply cheaper again...

You could head to IKEA and grab one of their set ups, much easier than building and there are plenty of awesome set ups similar to your designs.
