Watercooling test
im considering hooking up a watercooling system to my new pentium d 820, but i wanna make sure it runs properlywithout leaks, plus the case isnt ready for the res yet. so i plan on setting up mock watercooling system to run for 24 hours to check for leaks, pics to come soon.

Re: Watercooling test
Dead motherboard with padding used instead of a cpu.
Radiator
All setup. Notice how pimp my system is with the pickle jar reservoir.
Heres where it will end up

Re: Watercooling test
You really need to have a sealed reservoir so containments like dust don't get into the water. Also you need to be careful in case it overflows. Also have you consider cooling your VGA?

Re: Watercooling test
i have conisdered cooling my VGA< but its not in the budget currently. though i do have a home made block with 1/2 barbs that works, but i have no way of mounting it. besides, i dont need to void the warrenty on everything, lol
as for the res, its a temp setup. i actually am making it out a pickle jar, including the lid. the lid will have fittings mounted and sealed on it, but there should be no over flow problems. i managed to get enough coolant to fill the system, and when ai purged it, the jar wasnt even full. i may end up getting something bigger, depending on how warm the coolant gets.
my worry now is the pump. i tested it in the sink and it ran fine, not too loud, no odd noises, but when i hooked it with the setup posted above, it was intolerably loud. id rather hear my intel fan scream and have a lower OC than listen to that pump in that condition. im hoping it was just an air bubble or something. ill be taking off hte fittings nad inspecting it later on today to see if theres a problem with it.
i ran the system last night, and i got a small leak. i think it was the tubing being stretched out from being on that fitting in the past(trecycled end of the tube basically) and the fitting wasnt on tight enough. so this shouldnt turn int o a big problem.
