Ya, as far as most of the reviews and benchmarks are concerned, the new 8800GT beats the old 8800GTS's by a decent margin in just about everything and is just barely off the 8800GTX.

It makes me a little sad that I just bought an 8800GTS 320mb superclocked just recently, but it also makes me happy that I went with EVGA and can upgrade it! If I didn't go evga I would probably be pretty sad here right now, but eitherway they are both great cards. I am going to see what the new GTS's do and probably upgrade to that.

The 8800GT beats all of the 8800GTSs by a large margin, and actually should be app. $100 cheaper.

I am pretty sure that the new 8800GTS 512MB or 1GB will beat the 8800 Ultra no problem. It is supposed to blow the 8800GT out of the water, which can almost compete w/ the 8800GTX.

If that turns out to be true, and the new GTS's can keep about the same price as the current ones that is going to make me happy. Step-up for the win. I can deal with using one of the 7600gs from Project Alb for a few weeks while that comes in.

That sounds good, my brother's comp will get little speed boost then lol. When the new 8800GTS is released the prices for the 8800GTX may go down, if it does I may consider SLI. I would probably just wait for a few years and get a the best thing at the time. I can run pretty much anything at the moment with everything on high at any where between 70-99fps (STALKER varies a lot lol Battlefield series sits at 99fps).

In case you didn't see my thread, I just sold my ATI X1900XTX 512MB. Right now I am using an ATI X600SE since its the only other PCI-E graphics card I have. Surprisingly in regular use (Windows Vista Aero, HD Video, Web Browsing, Large Images) it doesn't performance any worse than my X1900XTX. Just no gaming for me unless its Dark Forces II. I am going to wait and see if the new 8800GTS 512MB/1GB beats the ATI HD3870 512MB/1GB.

I may need a new CPU to see the power from this card. I have a 2.4 ghz 4800 X2 (939) and I scored an 8867 on 3dmark06 with stock clock speeds. Yeah, kind of low. Then i overclocked the cpu to 2.6 ghz and got a 9380 on 3dmark. I also tried overclocking the 8800gt to 670/1650/1950 (stock is 600/1500/1800) with the cpu still at 2.6 and got a 9450. Yeah, the cpu is realy holding this card back lol. Ill try pushing the cpu to 2.8 and see what i get. Hopefully I can break the 10000 line.

Found a review that may interest you all, turns out my 8800GTX isn't beat (apart from the Ultra lol) just yet.

As much as I love Bit-Tech, they're not very good at making their reviews even. They always change some factor between the two cards, and therefore make the comparison invalid. For instance they'll put higher settings on the 8800GT because its newer, or something dumb like that. They've done this a lot before, its just this time, they don't show the specific settings for each card.

That review aside, the 8800GTX wasn't really ever beat by the 8800GT, its just as soon as the 8800GT got one frame more in a comparison, everybody jumped at the chance to say its better. They're about the same at medium to high resolutions. However, at ultra-high resolutions, the 8800GTX is still the king.

All of that is why I am waiting for either the ATI HD3870 512MB/1GB or the nVidia 8800GTS 512MB/1GB. Both of those cards should have no problem beating the GTX or Ultra.

The only reason everyone, including myself, is so excited about the 8800gt is because it is faster then the 8800gts, which cost more, and almost as fast as the 8800gtx at half the price. It also has the "newer" tech from nvidia. (65 nm core, etc....)

Ya, Im waiting to use my eVGA stepup on the new 8800GTS. I am really waiting to see how that card performs. 512mb of memory would be good, but I might jump up to the 1gb card if that performs well. If it isn't that much of an increase I might not even step up, but im thinking it probably will be.

As close as the 8800gt is to the gtx, I would think that the new GTS would HAVE to be better than the gtx. Otherwise, who would buy a new GTS when its only just barely over the GT.

We will see, but I am hoping to step up to a new 1Gb GTS.
