I still say its the processor....
ok this graphics card GeForce 8800 GTX has two cables that plug into it, they both split into two plugs for the PSU to plug into.. Does this mean i need to plug in four cables from the PSU into the graphics card..? because atm i have 2 plugged in (one from which the CD rom was). So basically out of the 2 cables which split into four i have 1 cable from the PSU plugged into each of the 2. So there is one floating on each. How am i suppose to plug in 4 PSU cables into the graphics card.. and why does it require that? What am i doing wrong here?
It sais i must use official gygabyte bios only, how do i know if i am running this?
try that
Did the PSU you bought have any PCI-E connectors? Also what PSU did you buy?
I imagine you'd have to have both of the molex connectors plugged in for the 1 PCI-E adapter. You do have a high powered graphics card.
i took the PSU back and got a 640w with PCI-E connecters (Nvidia sli ready) for the graphics card... although now i am still experiencing the same problems. for example when i run Windows performance to rate my PC it still shuts down half way through. Also everytime i 'restart' my PC when it gets to the part where it is suppose to start again it simply shuts down. At the moment i am re-installing vista and also at the part when it is suppose to restart the CPU just shuts off.. Any suggestions??
wtf.. now i cant reinstall Vista because when it 'restarts' several times during the installation it turns off, this corrupts the installation.. now i really need help.
Look in the Bios at the temperatures. Report any temperatures that you can.
EDIT: Also, which part of the Windows Performance rating was it crashing?
current system temp 47
current CPU temp 98
Windows Performance rating crashes about half way through
edit: it crashes at the CPU performance part
Ok so i have reinstalled VISTA but still the same problems. turns off when restarts, runs slow and also crashes at system performance rating.
Specs are:
Gigabyte 6-Quad Ultra Durable Motherboard. Model GA-x38-DQ6 (quite new)
Inter Core 2 Quad Processor
GeForce 8800 GTX Model : GV-NX88X768H-RH
98?!?! is that C???
for the sake of the problems i hope so. it means your heatsink isn't seated properly. make sure you hear a click from each pin. if you have to take out the motherboard and make sure all 4 pins are in place and you can see a black pole spreading a clear pin in half, like this.
the one of the left is correct and the one on the right is wrong.
sorry for the crappy pics, my dads $70 camera sucks ass. i will get one now that i have a new job
