Default Acer Aspire One Notebook $294

I don't know much about these ultra-portable notebooks, but this seems like a pretty good deal to me:

    http://www.woot.com/

Those familiar with Woot will know this deal is only good until midnight 11/1/08.

Someone tell me, just for my education, is this a good deal?

I didn't get a chance to see it and catch the specs but if you are a user on this forum it usually means you like fast gaming computers to use and ultra-portables are the exact opposite of that. If you only care about being able to throw the thing 30 feet into the air without difficulty, then its a good deal.

It really depends on what you want to use a computer for. I personally want my gaming and multimedia rigs to be desktops and an ultraportable one just for watching movies when travelling, IM'ing, etc.

I think unless you have the money to just spend like crazy, an ultraportable is a huge waste.

I disagree... I think the netbooks are really coming into their own, and that we arent even close to seeing the end of this trend. For people like us, yes, these machines are underpowered. But honestly, if you have a gaming rig already, then this is a great way to have mobile internet and data, on the cheap, and much more easily transported. Plus, I dont exactly like hauling my expensive laptop with me all over the place. If it got stolen, I'd be CHOKED.

If I lost a sub $300 laptop, I'd be a lot LESS angry.
