I'd still rather have any of the cars I posted. The hypercars do nothing for me, as they arent practical at all. I'd be too afraid to drive it anywhere! The risk of someone else hitting me would be just too much.

At least with the cars I post (which honestly are dream cars to me) I could drive them daily for commuting to/from work, or even just in the evenings/weekends for fun. Also, the sleeper factor for the Aero8 and the Weissmann (BMW M3 drivetrain under that sexy, lightweight body!) would be great for low key blasts on the highway.

Have fun in your multi-million dollar police magnet.. I'll be having twice as much fun, and getting less than half the attention, and be able to afford all three of the cars I posted.. plus more... for the price of one of those exotics.

Oh also, the insurance/maintenance/fuel costs are much lower.

I went to the only SSC Ultimate Aero dealership in north America. They didn't have one, but they had some other nice cars, including a Veyron. I blogged about it on my site. You can check it out here: http://modsandends.com/?p=458

that last looks like an el camino on crack. lol I like it.

+1 on the Lambo Countach porn on the ceiling! my brother and I shared a room and he bought a 6 foot long poster that we hung up above our bunk beds. mmmm.

I'm cheap, I'd take a dozen or so Corvette Z06s over a 500,000+ car any day.

I would like to take a beat up 69 charger bound for the scrapyard and turn it into the jalopy from HL2: ep2.

My realistic dream car, though, is a plymouth prowler. I would have to do a lot to it to actually make it fast, but I just can't get over how cool it looks. I remember seeing it as a concept and thinking it would never make it to production. It will be about 15 years, but I'm going to get one.

    100% Hand-built beauty.
I just found out that the 2006 S7 twin turbo had an optional upgrade to boost it to 1000HP and a rumored top speed of over 260mph for that package...I didn't even know about that and now I know the model I want. Otherwise the top speed was 248mph, which I'd call close enough.
Fun fact: at 160+mph the S7 can drive upside down as the down-force on the car is greater than the weight of the car. The tricky part is getting upside down in the first place...the trickier part is getting someone to loan you their $600,000 car for the initial test run.
There aren't too many cars on the street that this car can't smoke...and those that beat it do so by a narrow margin. For now I can only dream of the brutal acceleration to 240+ in under 11 seconds...I'd pay the $600k for it.

Now how did this thread get so far off topic?
    I'll procrastinate tomorrow.

Thats a new Holden VE R8 Maloo, which I doubt you guys would have seen over in the States. By the way, its on airbags so it doesnt ride that low all the time

Ill get some pics up either later tonight or tomorrow of my brothers mate's car. He's done a fair bit of work to his VY, and it currently pushes out 500+ horsepower

IMHO, ultra gorgeous car. Just google it. You won't be disappointed. Downsides? it's a kit car. kit only costs $20,000 or so, which is a great deal IF you have the know-how and tools and time to build it. And the $$ for the necessary parts (corvette engine usually, porsche tranny, etc) to finish it. Buying a turnkey (already assembled) typically hits almost $100,000. ok. I gotta post a pic. Anyway, I ain't got none of the skills necessary to pull off a build, but it sure is pretty.

I will be the owner of a GTM one day. I was in touch with Factory 5 last year and had every intention of buying a MK3 Roadster kit to build. The donor car I was going to buy got totaled at the drag strip one night while I was in the staging lanes waiting my turn. So I put those plans on the back burner until I find the perfect donor car again. This one was a Supercharged 5.0 HO that was bullet proof. It put just under 600hp to the ground with about 540 ft lbs of torque. All tubular suspension, Strange rear end, etc. It was running in the low 11s in the 1/4 mile and had the potential to shave another second off its time if it could get traction in the first 100 feet. He was going to sell it at the end of the season to fund a Nova project. He came out of the wreck fine but the car did not survive a 115mph crash into a concrete wall. When I find the right donor again I will save for a few months and take out a small loan and build a MK3 kit. This time I am honestly hoping to find a 2003 Cobra for the donor car.

I am constantly keeping my eye out for a totaled Zo6 and when I find one I just might buy a GTM kit. I will need to find the Zo6 for around 2k though and the suspension will need to be sound. I am hoping to find one that suffered a single rollover or something minor that would total it. The thing about factory 5 cars is that they are not a kit car in the sense that the title "kit car" used to mean. These cars are full tubular racing chassis with a fiberglass skin. The fact that most of the cars parts comes in a "kit" makes it a kit car. These cars often eat up their competitors on the track, competitors cars that cost 5-10 times what a MK3 or GTM cost. When I was pricing my MK3 out I was using the basic kit with only a few options and even then @$13k base I was looking at $26k to complete. The GTM is running people about $40k to complete to the point its street legal. Its still a hell of a bargain for the power to weight ratio and the sexy as hell looks.

You all really drool over/need/dream of a shiny new Saleen S7 or McLaren F1...forget all these sub-$500,000 cars. They can't brutalize the pavement at 240+mph. There aren't very many other cars that can pass freeway traffic in first gear... And if you can afford these cars, then you can afford to have drums of racing fuel strategically placed every 20 miles so you don't get stranded...
That may be, BUT....... You will never be able to do 240mph in that car so other than the status of owning one, there is no reason to own one. I know of several cars that are affordable that can pass freeway traffic in first gear. I have a friend who has a 08 Zo6 that does 65 in first gear. Then if that's the goal just spend $7k on any street bike over 600cc and it will easily pass any car in first gear. I own a high horsepower car and to be honest, its much more enjoyable cruising at or below the speed limit than it is hauling ass. When you are doing the speed limit you don't have to worry about the boys in blue making your wallet lighter. There is one piece of advice I can offer everyone. The faster your car is, the faster the cash leaves your wallet. Be it from fines, fuel or broken parts.

    Brothers mates car:

    Holden Commodore VY Calais

Thats the new engine he got after he blew the old one. In all seriousness, that car is definitely one of the fastest street legal holdens in the state.
