Sorry to hear you can't make it Paul.

Me too, I got all excited for a while there at maybe being able to see your Doom3 case in real life instead of just videos and pictures. But I understand, we all need time off.
I gotta say, I'm looking forward to this. I started my sandcrawler, the first one (my worklog has a link to pics of the first 2 crawlers I built and later scrapped when I started my current, 3rd one) 8 years ago, as a fun challenge - combining my love of model building with my love of computer tinkering. I only recently joined this awesome forum for LED wiring advice, and this will be the first time I've ever shown the thing in public. I never dreamed of having an opportunity like it, and I can't wait! (well, ok, I dreamed, but I never realistically expected it to happen)
Sent an email on Friday, but haven't heard back. We'll see if they want my NES PC or not and then I'll know what I'm doing with the rest of my break when I get back from NY.
Received an email back today. Looks like they want my NES PC. I'll need to finish it after I get back from break and before school starts again. I'm going to depend on you guys to know how to set it up. You can display it with the case open or closed. I'll try to get a good description typed up as well.
How do you think it should be displayed. You can see it on my site or here. The NES itself is so close to finished it hurts.

OK, this is the "official" call to arms. I need to get a list of Mods that you guys want to be at the show.
Here is what I need:
Name and picture (not more than 2 pictures) of Mod
Short background writeup.
Will you be attending the show?
How will the mod be setup? (By me or another member)
Plus this info for the Exploratorium:
Name:
Handle/Nickname:
Name of piece:
Description of piece:
City/Town:
Phone:
Special Requirements for Display:
Also, They want a list of our members that are showing up. I suspect this is so we can get passes for all 3 days, but I will check.
If there are any specific requirements for displaying any of your mods, please include that in the description as well.
Once I have the info on the mods you guys want at the show, it is then up to the folks at the Exploratorium to decide if all of the systems can be at the show (I think they have some space limitations).
Also if you want your mod at the show and can not make it, I will be the point contact for shipping, setting up and tearing down the mod and then shipping it back to you. Once I know for sure that your system has been accepted to the show I will send you shipping information.
Please note that I take absolutely NO responsibility for broken mods. I will make every effort to ensure that no damage comes to your system while in my custody, but I can not ensure that little bits will not break off. Bottom line? Pack your system well and make sure it is safe. I am going to be out of town the following week (snowboard trip to Seattle) so I will not promise that your system will ship back until the following week (week of February 22nd).
Time is short, let's get going!
One month to the show.

I filled out the official form and sent it in. I'm not sure if they want all of us here to do that or not, but I got an email asking that I do, so I did. I just want everyone here to know if that is what they want to have happen.
Name and picture (not more than 2 pictures) of Mod:
Unassuming NES PC
Short background writeup:
There have been many NES PCs built, so I wanted to raise the bar a bit and built a case that looked completely stock. All of the original interfaces work and the DVD drive is hidden inside a Zelda cartridge.
Will you be attending the show? No, but Trace is going to bring my mod.
How will the mod be setup? Trace will set up the mod.
Plus this info for the Exploratorium:

Airbozo I pm'd my info to you. I sent this pic to the museum today, so they could get an idea of the size of my case, but I also let them know this isn't to be the final publicity pic since the outside of my case isn't done.
I'll be there, bringing D_Stilgar's NES so add me to the list of people attending.
Have you checked out the front page lately?

Here is the email I got from Marcus:
So if you guys are interested in getting your mods shown at this event, hurry up and sign up!We'll like to have all potential computers here for the event but in order
for us to get all the information we need in one place and in order to see
all of the computers that people are proposing to show, we're asking
everyone to fill out the following form. Please send this link to the
modders who are interest in displaying their mods.
https://exploratorium.wufoo.com/form...ormation-form/
This form asks questions about the modder and the proposed case mod(s)
they'd like to display at our event. If they are submitting more than two
computers, please ask them to fill out this additional form as many times as
necessary until we have all of their submissions recorded:
https://exploratorium.wufoo.com/form...omputer-sheet/
Looking forward to hearing from you and the rest of the TBCS members...and
looking forward to seeing all the TBCS mods in person!
