    Default best cooling loop setup?

    alright I'm getting another 3870x2 and two koolance waterblocks from Trace, so I'll be running two of those in crossfire. Now I'm going to have my Pentium D 820 (OCed to 3.3), a single 120 rad and a 2x120 rad. what would the best loop setup be?

    I was thinking pump->CPU->GPU1->GPU2->120 rad->2x120 rad->res->pump

    I'm no pro by any means when it comes to WC setup, so I'd really appreciate anyones input as to how I should set this up. thanks!!

    Will

    I'd run it through the 120 after the cpu then the 2 gpu blocks then on to the 120.2

    not a bad idea either, rather than pumping hot CPU coolant into the GPUs, makes sense

    Although, the GPU's can take more heat then the CPU

    I'd go with Trace's suggestion. Though tbh I'd want to add another rad after the GPUs, I don't remember what the thermal footprint of a 3870x2 is, but I imagine it's quite large.

    I had a q6600 and 2 (3870x2s) on 1 120.2 rad
    Idle temps for the q6600 were in the 50's

    his suggestion was to go CPU to the 120 rad, then to the two 3870x2's, then to the 120.2 rad

    Yeah I know, I was just saying that if it were me I would add an additional 120.2 in line with the current one. Of course, that's entirely dependent on if that would even fit into the case in question, and it might be overkill, but hey, I like overkill

    Isn't that the point of modding? Overkill?

    lol

    my armor case is pretty tight right now with the single 120 rad, but I'm getting a 120.2 rad with the 2nd 3870x2 and both waterblocks, and I've been doing sketchups on how to mount it into the top of my case. I wont fit against the top panel due to the PSU being in the the way, so I've got a custom idea on getting it to fit. stay tuned
