I'm pretty pumped. I just got an email today. I'll install it when I get home tonight and then since my program is having a field trip that I'm not going to go on I'll have most of the week to play. Sweet!

Tell us how it is.

I tried to get a beta key but you had to sign up for some bull**** survey which would give you spam mail so I didn't do it.
If you had to take some BS survey that's not through the steam client then it probably was a scam and you would never get an invite anyway. There aren't any keys, you just submit your hardware specs to steam and take a short, official valve dota survey on their website and then you just wait. Eventually you may or may not get an email telling you that you've been selected to play, but the game just shows up in your library.
I've done the same for CS:GO and I'm really hoping I get picked for it.
ill have to look it up when i get home.
So, I've played three games so far.
I've gotten zero kills so far, but I have no losses as far as my team goes. I get the general idea of how I'm supposed to play, but I'm just not that great at it yet. I have, however, significantly reduced my deaths and I'm having an easier time leveling up, and I've spent a fair amount of time learning about the different characters and classes so I can really do the right job for my team.
So far, so fun. My only real issue is that I don't want to feel like a burden to my team, but there's still no single player training available so I just sort of have to learn as I go and figure out what I am doing wrong/right.
I signed up way back when, still haven't gotten any notices regarding beta entry
