    Default Searching for RAM

My PQI RAM isn't very good for overclocking and it doesn't work perfectly with my mobo. Would you guys help me find some DDR2 800 (PC6400) RAM with heatsink, either 1GB (I'd buy two) or 2GB(2x1GB set) for under $200? I've searched everywhere and right now I'm settling for some "Open Box" OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) for $169.

    Thanks, Indybird

the reality of the situation is that for under $200, you arent going to get anything super special. you'll get ddr800 at 5-5-5-12 timings and maybe a 4 thrown in there somewhere. you can bump it up a bit with voltage increases, but i really havent seen anything too impressive lately. the only thing ive seen perform very well is a ddr1000 set from mushkin that overclocks very well, but its over $400.

might as well go with the ocz stuff.

ok, I was also looking at some mushkin DDR2 667 2GB (2x1) for $174, but my mobo said it downgrades DDR2 667 w/ CL = 4 to DDR2 533, though I can manually put it back to 667.

    DDR2 667 Mushkin or DDR2 800 OCZ?
