Man, people are stupid. The stations really should have researched the effects of large volumes of water in the body in a short period of time.
And have waivers and medical staff.
The participants are equally as stupid, specifically the ones that don't know their own limits. If you're doing something outside of normal physical routine that is uncommon, go talk to a doctor. Get some medical advice before doing something stupid.
Call me cold, but I think she deserved to die. She didn't listen to her body, she did something exceedingly stupid without medical advice or supervision and she worked in healthcare. I do feel sorry for her kids.

How would one know to research this before hand? I mean seriously... water is about the safest thing you can drink.
So what I'm understanding here is this... if I want to take my grand daughter to a park and put her on a merry-go-round that she has never been on before, I should research heavily before hand to ensure there are no deaths occuring from a two year old getting dizzy?
Folks, I am 52 years old and I have never heard of this, so how would I know to research this?
Just my two cents worth,

who are these radio stations hiring, people with short-term-memory-loss? it's very sad i heard that on my local radio station...
Im Back Baby!
Yeah, I just quoted Bender Bending Rodriguez, got a problem?
On youtube there is an audio recording of the radio broadcast. It was very creepy to listen to. I kinda felt like vomiting. I wouldn't think much of it except that I know what happens to that poor woman.
Well, if nothing else, too much water can mess with the pH balance in your stomach making you throw up. And while throwing up isn't lethal, it's sure as hell annoying. Trust me, I know. I've been throwing up off and on the past four days or so.
