Default Here's what I've been working

Hey guys, Sorry I haven't been around in a while, I've been poking my head back in every now and then, but most of my time has been spend working on the basement. I finally got around to cleaning out all the crap.

First I'll give you a little back ground on it. When we bought the house 5 years ago, the basement was unfinished. Poured concrete walls, 1 electrical outlet. 2 pull string style lights, No HVAC and just rough in's for a bathroom. thats it!

I did not take any pictures before I started to work on it. (Darn!)

So far, I've furred out all the exterior walls with 2x4 studs and 3 1/2" Batt insulation. I also installed 6 20 amp circuits to the basement. 2 for outlets. 1 for a Lutron Graphik Eye lighting system. One for the TV/Media Rack, 1 for the bar/gaming area/ and another for the bathroom and storage area.

I installed 6 hvac vents and some interior walls. I also added a lot of architectural details to the basement. I added a bunch of arches, and columns, recesses and all coffered ceilings. The tv area has a light cove above it.

I designed the basement to have a wet bar, poker table, Pool table with Dart Board. Exercise area, and a home theater. There is also a half bathroom and a large storage area with a double laundry tub. (if your counting thats 3 sinks!)

I spend the past few years putting this all together. The storage area was the first to get done. I was able to buy 16 linear feet, of 24" deep shelves. 3 shelves high made of steel from a best buy that closed here. All for only $100.

The bathroom is also done. I'll try and take some pictures of that later on.

As for the rest of the basement I started the drywall work and found that I lost track of time and money. Part of the reason is because I got into Computer modding. (Thanks you you guys!).

I'm sure you've seen my basement in the background of my worklog pictures.
It was just framing for the time being.
All the electrical lighting, is in too.

So now the time has come to get er done.

Here are some before pictures (before drywall that is).

    TV area:

    Media rack.

Here you can kinda see into the storage area.

    Stairs:

    Wetbar area:

    gaming/ Pool table area:

Some of the coffered ceiling details.

And now after a lot of drywall work.

I still have mudding and taping to do. (FUN)

Prime/paint, millwork, cabints, sconce lights, carpet, etc...... A lot to do!!!

But at least its moving forward.
So obviously I wont' be doing any modding in the near futures. atleast until I find a new place to work. I might build a workbench in the storage area. but that won't be until fall.

Anyway, just thought I'd give you an update on what I've been up to.

    Later,

    Thanks you guys.

Mudding is actually pretty fun. Its the sanding part that really sucks. When I did the bathroom, I breathed in so much gypsum that it made me throw up.
    It sucked really bad!!!

I'll keep posting pics as the progress continues.

Hey guys, Just a small update on my progress in the basement. The mudding and taping is done. My dad brought over his big industrial pain sprayer. the kind that sits over the top of a 5 gal. bucket of paint and sucks it up into the machine. We primed the entire basement, ceiling and walls in a little over 2 hours!!! Sorry, no pics of us doing that.

but I did take some shots of the painting that Ive been doing.

Here are a few shots. Its not done yet. I still have a lot more to do, but you get the idea of where I"m going.

    Love it!

My first career ever was as a drywall hanger, then finisher. I am very good at drywall finishing, especially in covering up framing mistakes. With the exception of my master bedroom, I have done all the hanging ad taping in my house. We are just starting to tear out some walls and remodel the kitchen...

Love the details you put in!

EDIT: Did you use a banjo or tape by hand?
