Default Is your PSU big enough? Too big?

    Hey everyone,

I'm starting a new build today (worklog to follow once I get a good start), and I realized that my power supply wont fit in my enclosure. I figured, "why not get a shuttle one?" It's nice and small, should work fine. Except, how much power do I need? 250w? 400w?

I found a very cool calculator (very thorough) to help figure out the power requirements of your system. After entering the specs of my hardware, it calculated 226w. So, a 300w psu will be fine, even with a modest overclock.

Hopefully this will be useful to many people, it certainly helped me out!

Now I need to find a super small 300w psu. I might just have to cut down the one I have and MAKE IT FIT.

    -Luke

Wow, for my current setup, I only need 290W. Even with my 900MHz OC. C2D FTW!

When I have my WC setup though... Since my pump gets its own outlet... The extra fans bump it up to 300W .

My server consumes ~30-40W I'm guessing, since there aren't any Via CPUs on the list.

Wow...for the system I want to run, it says I need 904w. Maybe I should...um...I don't know. It just seems like a lot. At peak output anyway. My system right now says it needs 658w.

904 watts! What are trying to light up? New York? Thats alot of juice!

The calculator says that for the rig (Frozen Sun) my son is building we will need just over 550 watts. I am so glad I bought the 800 PSU!

Does anyone have a spare light house I could power!!!!

I think they mean that even with not selecting anything, it was saying 34w.
