I got a new setup, new monitor (s) I stuck the 22 inch on my desk and the 15 inch is off to the side with my icons and monitors...
First attempt @ making a starfield...not too bad, but that horse/cow/rhino thing in the middle detracts from it.
Made this one myself.

Thanks man! Your star field is waaaay better than the attempts I've made at those. I can make planets ok, but stars are another thing.

Here's the tutorial that I followed.
It's a bit confusing; I'm thinking it was written for a previous release of GIMP. If you're running the most recent version, use 'Feather' instead of 'Fade' in the Select dropdown menu. And if you decide to add supernovas, be sure to do it on a transparent layer instead of using the black layer (according to the tutorial).
