This project is officially on hold until I get my wife's system up and running. Something tells me that this motherboard is about to find a new home.

This is the first post from ROIO. I've installed Ubuntu 8.04 on here just to see what it is like. Plus, if I am going to make a custom geexbox build, I need the proper tools since it cannot be built in a Windows environment from what I have gathered. I'll get some pics up later tonight of my new and improved testing station, since my server is going to be sharing space here as well in the near future.

As for my wife's computer, it was nothing more than a loose cable thankfully.

And I am also very glad to report that my current ambient temp inside of ROIO is 31 C. And she's been running for about an hour now.

Yep, all that is left to do is sleeving, and I'm planning on knocking that out tomorrow. I might even leave Ubuntu on here and see if I can snag a different video card and turn this into a pseudo-HTPC. I've just got an 80 gig hard drive in here but for now that's all I really need.

And there might be a few other minor mods in the future for this case, we'll have to wait and see.

So, in the last week, I've more or less scrapped plans to use geexbox (even though it is some really cool software) and Mythbuntu 8.04 due to the fact that I cannot get either of these builds to play nicely with what very well could be my downfall--an ATI All In Wonder card that I should replace with something a bit more current, but we can never look a gift horse in the mouth, now can we?

Besides, I'm more than up for the challenge. I'm currently finishing up a SuSE 10.3 install (yeah yeah, bloated, I know) due to the fact that there might be a bit of hope according to this page. If I cannot get this to work within two weeks, I'm going to scrap this little excursion into scope creep and get this machine back to what it was originally intended for.

Here's hoping I can get some work done on this this weekend.
