removing floating icons in windows xp

I have floating icons at the top of my page (vista like) how do i get rid of them ! thanks

Sounds like the Emachines/HP/Dell "dock" icons. Apps like Rocketdock offer the same functionality. Maybe run "msconfig" from your start->run , and try disabling things in there one at a time, with a reboot in between each.. that will tell you for sure if it's an external application creating the icons.
