So I have been watching this cam on and off for the last couple of years. Pretty cool stuff. This year the falcons spit out 4 eggs and all of them hatched (normally only 2 out of 3 hatch and one may die). They are all doing well, but it is cool to see the difference from the first to hatch to the last. It is obvious when they start moving around who is the first born.
This morning a person went up and banded the chicks. It was pretty neat seeing how big these chicks are in reference to a human. It was also pretty funny watching the parents freak out and dive bomb the guy banding the chicks. The eyasses (the proper name for falcon chicks) are still investigating their new jewelery. It is especially cool (and sometimes gross) to watch the feedings... MMMM flying rats for dinner...
Did I mention that this nest is in the middle of downtown San Jose, CA on top of the City Hall building?
