My UPS guy is pretty good, and never throws the packages (he even "hides" the packages left on the porch). I usually walk up to the truck to save him a few seconds.
To ship, however, I usually only use USPS, unless I have something very large/heavy, because USPS is cheaper for smaller stuff, especially to residential addresses.

You guys do realize that they know whose house that is? Its the first drivers, there was talk about it on various sites until the drivers actually came on and pleaded that it was their house.

TBO I have never ever had a problem with UPS, they always delivered on time and waited for me to get off bioshock or COD (jkjk, I always got right up and went to the door). Not a single thing as ever been broken/ battered. They even take the time to put it in a trash bag when its raining out!
It's like JFK announcing the moon mission. He had no expertise in space travel, and no way of knowing if it would work. He just announced "we're going to the moon" and then they made it happen because everyone was on the same page and working towards the same goal. If he had said "well, let's get some people in space, and we'll see how far out we can get, and if I find someone to make a rocket strong enough, we could possibly approach the moon's orbit and maybe land" it wouldn't have happened.

After the mishap I had with them a couple years back (requested the day off from work, stayed at home all day, and they never did knock; they just left a 'Sorry we missed you' sticker on my door) I try like hell to have stuff shipped FedEx or USPS. Doesn't always work out that way though. The few times since that incident I was lucky enough to live on the route that my cousin usually drives. I still give him a bad time about that first goaround!

FWIW, the person who didn't bother to knock got canned a few weeks after that incident from what my cousin told me.

I uses USPS for all of my shipping. UPS charges too much. Its hard to beat a USPS flat rate box.

I would prefer the Monster Garage delivery truck if I were a driver. Never have to leave the truck.

This is true. If it will fit in the box, it is going to be cheaper.

If I have something larger that I cannot break down into the USPS flat rate boxes, I will then use UPS due to cost.

Another benefit of USPS is the free boxes. I get enough shipping materials free from them to almost make my shipping free.

DHL pulled that with me a while back with a text book... it landed perfectly wrong and pinned itself against the screen door. I had to go out the back door to get the book.

I called and was insured proper actions would be taken against the driver on my route that day. Probably just a slap on the wrist though.
