He used SketchUp. It's very easy to use and surprisingly cheap, for how powerful it is. Much easier than most CAD software to learn.

Sorry about this not really being about your idea Atomicman but i would just like to ask how easy is sketchup to learn i have never used CAD before but want to learn. and i love you design i like it with the logo more, will look sweet when its finished.
well when you first start the program it'll ask if you'd like to take the 3 step tutorial and it covers all the basics rather well
