Default Basic CS Mod (Work starts again 7 Nov.)

Hey guys I'm finalyl starting my mod after a few months of planning I'm ready to start.

Here is my unspecting Super Lanboy case that I am going to mod with a Counter Strike theme. Since I have little time these days I am going to conduct a range of simple mods on my case that help portray a CS theme.

My plans for the mod are:

    O Install a LCD screen
O Install a fan scilencer on my front a rear fans
O Install a mesh dust fan grill on my front fan
    O Install a window sticker
O Replace the borring fan grill on the back of the PSU with a CS themed one
    O Install Liquid Cooling setup

When I get some more time
X Put a blow hole in the top of the case
X Add a false case floor
X Cut out exsisive case paneling
X Do something about the door

(I'm keeping the images at 800 x 600 through out the mod to apease the 56k'ers)

OK today a brown box arrived from America delievered to my front door step.

    Whats in the box?

    TADA!

My window sticker, fan scilencers, mesh gril and custom fan guard have arrived.

Right time to install one of the fan scilencers and the mesh grill on the front of the case.

    Off comes the cover

    The bits

    Installation

Hmm sligh problem the screws that hold the fan to the case are not long enough to cope with the scliencer and the filter. After looking through a collection of screws and finding none of them are long enough. I will have to go to JayCar and get longer screws.

    Hey all

After a trip to jaycar today I got some longer screws. Only to find they still werent long enough. So time for some more exteme tatics. The mounting holes on the dust filter had just being machined punched so the metal extruded out one side around the holes. So after flatening and redrilling the holes I was ready to go.

Installing the reworked dust guard and the scliencer.

And the final restult. The antec cover managed to fit over the dust filter. You can see the metal square which is the dust filter below the antec cover.

Check back soon as in a few hours I will install the CS fan grill on the PSU.

Ok I have ordered LCD screen which is two characters high and twenty across. It uses a serial printer cable as its interface. Could I use a serial to usb cable and wire it to a interal USB mobo port and still be able to control the screen. It uses the HD44780 chip or something.

    Clicky

When it arrives I will install it along with the CS fan grill on the PSU and the window sticker.

    Check back soon.

I did the lcd mod a while back.

I would suggest you search on the USB parrallel thing, I seem to remember reading that it doesn't work. with a converter. But that was a while ago, someone may have come up with a solution.

I think it may have been in the smartie forums that I spotted it.

I moved on to a playstation screen as my output, so I stopped watching the lcd forums.

Yeah my dad's an electric enginer well he use to be now he runs his own company and has engineers that work for him. The screw collection is left over from the late 80's when my dad build his own computer he designed and built the mobo and the graphics card circutry himself and got the circut boards printed for him and stuff. He built it in the draw of a filling cabinet.

Yeah I figuered that the super lanboy is the easits to mod. Come with a flat side panel that doesn't has a fan. And is made of alumium so its easy to cut.
