those brackets will hold the sidepanels on the bottom. need some cutting first.

step one of wirering the sidepanels up .. some copper sheets to connect panels and electronics-tray

gold leaf to protect the copper form corroding

now we can start with the leds

44 per side, deep red and cold white (plcc2).

sometimes soldering got a bit tricky...

step one was to connect everything to ground.

first, wanted to put the leds in groups of 4, but that wasnt that beautyful on the edge. so i decided to split them up. some things became quite tight ...

thats just a third of alle cables that need to get through this.

more on that in the next days

as already mentioned .. it became really tight but now all cables are in there.

on the other side i used an old ide cable. that saved a lot of space.

a mirrorfoil was added to the windowside.

now itīs time to glue everything together.

today we head on to the light inside the case.

to light the inside up iīll gonna use this LED. this is a 1w lumi-led emitter in daylight white and itīs unbelievable bright. i have to use a led because thereīs not enough space for a cathode.

the coppersheet is for cooling the led. uncooled it would melt within seconds.

test set-up. the strange red stuff is old thermalglue. looks ugly . smells ugly, no further details ...

the first heatsink was a bit too small (60-70°C), so i made a bigger one and 2 small ones for the resistor. that thing getīs pretty hot , too (90°+).

not that beautyfull, but works fine

    another testsetup.

    one led to light up...

remember kids ...think first before cutting. the plexisheet became a bit too strait so i had to add a whole bunch of leds to get a even look.

the lighting on the top of the case got quite tight too.

at least the slot-illumination offered a bit more space.

    wired up n1 and clean.

the frontpanel will be a major role for my light and fanstuff. nearly everything is connected to it.

    big fans are running 2.

the tray is also nearly finished.

ummm letīs start with a little teasin

the bolts for the sidepanel are sanded and polished.

the case itself is now nearly finished, but the remote controll is not more then a concept.

diameter 48mm , strength 10mm , aluminium. one of the few parts i didnt made myself.

2 potentiometers are attached to the wheel. one for the fans on the top, the other one helps to vizualize the speed of the fans. more on that later.

to visualize i need a bargraph or something similar. buying one was an option but no solution.

i decided to build my own from small plexisheets and some unused smd leds.

    dont forget aluminium foil.

see ya soon on part 2

today we start with some bondo.

while the bondo was drying i made the first modul. this one will carry 4 switches and a Ir diode.

and the scond modul. pwr switch and a bargraph on this side.

this button fits under the yellow striped cap. itīs made of a 5mm plexiglassheet

iīve had some time to paint the first pieces, too.

modules done. the next step is to build the housing for them ( they are already standing on the parts of teh future case) and testing the bargraph.

    first, some filler again.

now ive had time to test my little bargraph.

all shots were taken with flash. the graph is really bright.

after painting glueing was quite easy because most parts are made of wood.

RC done. now everybody should have an idea of how the big case will look like.
