Got my new pickups today. Seymour Duncan SPB-2 Hot Basslines. Tomorrow I'm getting the pots and cap, as well as audio jack and wires. Can't wait.

    the new pickups

    The old ones.

The magnets on the new ones are a little larger, definately denser, the coils are better on the new ones and they're not rusting. Now just to get a .05 microfarad cap and some 250k ohm pots and we'll be set.

Guitar player who's much better at fixing them than playing.

Here we go, lots of stuff, each links to a picture
1965ish Harmony Rocket III - need to get a repro pickguard but otherwise original and very good condition
1985 Japanese Squier "Contemporary" Stratocaster - Bought a neck, found the right body, threw in some spare humbuckers and made my own mounting rings. Now I need to finish wiring. It also had an aftermarket bridge at one point, but has had an original Japan Fender put back on
1986 Japanese Squier Stratocaster - Mint, mint, mint. Was owned by someone that played casinos in Vegas. I bought it from a pawn shop, still has the previous owners backstage pass in the case.
1987 Japanese Squier Stratocaster - "50's" style, was modded with a Kahler bridge and locking nut when I bought it. Put a vintage bridge back on, sold the bridge on ebay for more than I paid for the guitar.
~2000 Chinese Squier Affinity Strat - Ongoing project, needs electronics. Actually plays very well and the "Rosewood" fretboard looks just like Pao Ferro.
~2000 Chinese Squier Affinity Tele - Another one with the orangey streaked Rosweood neck. Bought on a lark, then I played it and was amazed. It's beat to hell and had the cheap chinese electronics replaced with Seymour Duncan Broadcaster pickups.
Frankenstrat - Mexican neck and body, japanese electronics. Sounds great, plays good but not great. It's my "loaner" when people are over and want to play. Having something spilled on it would only make it look better.
1965 Harmony Bobkat - Work in progress, making a new pickguard to hold NOS Harmony Electronics. Original pickups sound like a cross between a Fender Jaguar and a Telecaster, great for surf and garage rock.
1985ish Japanese Squier Katana - So ugly I had to have one. All of the "charm" of a Flying V, but with a shape that makes it even harder to play.
Mexican Fender Standard Jazz Bass - Newer addition, I started playing bass but it's been over 10 years since I last owned one. This one came cheap, and best of all wasn't black. I have too many black guitars.
Stella, STELLA, STELLAAAA!!! - Old Harmony Stella acoustics, one nylon, one steel, one with electric strings that used to have a tele pickup mounted at the end of the neck. Used to be great values on ebay, now people have realized they're something special. I used to have NINE of these, parted the bad ones out and gave three others to friends as presents.
Squier Esprit - Squier Master Series, basically a copy of the old Fender Flame/Esprit. Got it on closeout from Overstock.com for $200. A bit wider than a Les Paul, but lighter since it has a chambered body.
Squier Mini Strat - Bought for a niece, then realized she had no intention of actually learning to play so kept it for myself. Not bad little guitars, but the electronics are meh at best and they really need a good setup.
Silvertone Bobkat - Another project with the Harmony version above. Original bridge and tuners replaced, but will be getting original style electronics.
Squier Telecaster Custom - Good alternative to a Les Paul, but I wish I had bought the P90 version instead of humbuckers. Eh, one of these days I'll have to buy another.
Line 6 Variax 300 - "Modeling" guitar, and does a pretty decent job through a solid state amp or straight into the PC. Models are all pretty good, but it becomes pretty obvious the biggest difference between different guitar tones is in your playing style.

Amps, no god pics taken of these right now.
1965 Fender Bandmaster in a 2x10" combo cabinet - Tooobs!!!
1970 Fender Bassman head - needs complete rebuilding
1993ish Fender SKX-15R solid state keyboard amp - Red Knob age, makes a very good "clean" amp for acoustic
2007 Fender Vibrochamp XD - tube power amp with a digital modeling preamp, highly recommend these for practice amps. The blackface Fender amp models are about as close as you can get without having a real one.
Fender mini-Tonemaster - 2x1" speakers, not bad as a headphone amp
Amp-U-Plug-n-Play - plugs direct into the jack, no volume or tone controls. It was cheap, about all I can say.

    Effects and Miscellaneous
    Boss CE-2 Chorus
    Boss DS-1 Distortion
    Boss PH-1r Phaser
    Danelectro French Toast Fuzz Octave
    Russian EH Big Muff Pi
Arion Tubulator - $5 and just a terrible ugly sound, I love it
Line 6 Guitar port, makes for a decent recording interface and the Variax sounds great when paired with it

Yeah, with all that stuff I should really play much better than I do.

I got my own band now; "The Sires" (Check us out on Facebook). In the group I play bass and sing back up vocals.

With the help of two of my friends and my dad, I learned how to play bass. I've been playing for half a year now.

At home I use my Dad's Kalamazoo (With new strings, pickups and tuners) from 1970 something. When at band practice I switch off between a newer Squire Precision bass and some Yamaha bass.

Default Fellow Musicians- Post What You Play Here

    I remember this old post

Didn't make it past 2 pages with only a few responses. With a bunch of new members around, I thought it would be time to find out: What instruments do you play?

I personally play (currently) Tenor Saxophone (I can play any of them).

Feel free to post pics and have fun!

guitar, bass, piano, did a slight stint on drums, messed around with the accordion (but no formal lessons). thats all I can think of now. oh, the triangle

EDIT: guess I should have said that I had no formal lessons on the guitar, bass or drums either, only piano for a bunch of years.
