    Default Adding a motion sensor?

Anyone know how to add a motion sensor to a PC, so it does "x" when someone passes by?

A long time ago I used a serial connected motion sensor (rs232) to trigger a sound file when someone walked by my office door. It was really easy to program. At the time I used C, but there is probably an easier way now using basic or something simpler.

I looked into this a while ago when planning K-9-PC and came to the conclusion that buying a super-cheap security light was probably the way to go, and having it trigger an arduino to do whatever you want - which in my case was make the dogs ears move whenever someone walked by.

A PIR sensor from Sparkfun or radioshack hooked to an arduino. Sparkfun makes an ePir that looks interesting.

See here for the code: http://www.arduino.cc/playground/Code/PIRsense

I have one hooked into my berserker mod where its used to trigger the lights to change color and play an mp3 file of a Big Daddy growling when someone get near.

Depending on what you have in mind, this may be easier.

I was wanting to make it make an evil growl. I wonder if I could just buy one of those Halloween things that have the motion sensor built in that growls already. Then gut it and transfer the parts to a PC.

That would probably work fine, if you know where you can buy Halloween stuff this time of year.
