    Default Quick socket/cooler question.

Quick question. I'm building this rig, and eventually I'll be buying a decent motherboard for it. Until then, I plan to use my current one, Asus K8V-MX.
For the cooler I would like to use something like one of these:

But I don't want to be stuck when I upgrade the motherboard.

Am I correct in the assumption that if it fits this AMD64, it will fit any AMD64 motherboard?

Go for the Zalman CNPS-7700-cu, it takes heaps of different socket chips.

Even on the high mode it is still pretty silentish.

This is the heatpipe i have. it comes with brackets to mount on any cpu. Extremly good temps with this. Its a Cooler Master Hyper 6+

    [edit]
The only con is the size. In my case with this cooler i cant mount a fan on the side panel over the cpu. There isnt enough space between the cooler and side panel

the Zalman Flower series are good for thier layout, and the CM Hyper series are phenominal, although a bit large.

And a HSF will fit whatever CPU it says, mobo doesn't matter. So if it supports AMD6 Socket 939 chips, you're in buisness.

Yeah I think my AMD64 is a socket 754 too, you (not xmastree) may want to double check on that 939 thing.

You do know American isn't the standard English language, words do change and ways of saying words does change over different countries speaking English. Also have you ever heard of the phrase 'slang'. Also how your comment had anything to do with what xmastree asked I will never know, atleast what I said contributed to the question asked. Now if you don't have anything else to contribute towards a possible answer to xmastree's question I suggest you not try misdirect this thread with "pizza awards".

And for xmastree, if it helps the Zalman CNPS7700-cu works on:
    Socket 775
    Socket 478
    Socket 754
    Socket 939
    Socket 940
