Rant: Summer coming too quickly, no insulation in roof, computer room upstairs..

Fact: The roof in our house has NO insulation in the roof.... At all. Typical 50s house.
Fact: Heat rises.
Fact: Our computer room is upstairs.
Fact: My CPU was reported running at 65°C.
Unknown: GPU temps.

I was working on my homework, combined with the above.

Sudden "click" from PSU.

Blackscreen. No fans.

*heartsink*



Wait a couple minutes, I'm able to get into BIOS.*phew* there.
Couple problems gone



The thing I'm most frustrated with is that there was no overheating warnings.

What happened (as far as I can remember):

For the longest time, once we hit ~60MPH, the speedometer would wig out, and there'd be a noticeable hum.

2 years ago, we got enough cash scrounged up to start repairs.
Took it to Commercial Tire.
They replaced some part that we knew was wrong.
Still wigged out.
Another part.
Still.
And repeat for a couple more times.
Argh.
Then they FINALLY "figure out" that the bedpan of the differential was patched poorly.
That wasn't the cause of the problem.
We got frustrated with them, so we took it to a "neighborhood" mechanic.

Turns out, in the 9 years of us owning it, one of the teeth on the differential had snapped.
We replaced the gear head.
Silence.


A couple weeks later, we were headed to northern Salt Lake area.
We stop at a light.
My dad starts to go.

He shuts off the engine.

We look:

The driveline had been snapped, in the middle, clean.


Thankfully, this is when the Cash for Clunkers deal was happening.
Unfortunately, the engine was about the only thing that was in decent condition, and they had to kill the engine with the liquid fiberglass.

The frustrating part wasn't getting a new vehicle; the frustrating part is we believe Commercial tire knew what was wrong the whole time, but were sucking money away from us.
Unfortunately, we don't have enough evidence to prove it.
