is it possible to have 2 or more psu's on a computer.
ie: a seperate 250 watt psu for a RAID 5 array

yes

Yeah, and you don't particularly need two PSU's just to run a RAID array. I'm pretty sure, as long as you have a quality PSU (none of this aspire/apeiva **** or anything like that) with enough connecters it'll handle it just fine.
Now, I have seen an instance where two PSU's were needed, in my dad's computer, because he's got like 3 optical drives, a high-end GPU, somewhere in the neighborhood of 10HD's (IDE, SCSI, and SATA combined) and some other insane cooling crap.

You can also buy separate PSU's that are made especially for "High End" GPU's. They are also designed to fit into a 5.25 bay. That will free up what? 140-300Watts? That should be enough to run a few more HDD's or Optical's right?

People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.

ok, i know i could get a single psu, but its mainly for bragging rights

Err... Guide.
(Funfact: I spelled it "guild" agian in this post but caught it)
Bragging rights? Two PSU's? Never heard this before.
I think the only thing you get from another PSU if it's unnessacary is one less outlet, more heat (=less bragging rights, heat=bad), and a heavier computer.

Not to mention the power wasted. The only time i've seen anyone use 2 PSU's is slythefox, but he's running a huge amount of drives.

When I build this dual PSU, the common Wattage was about 420W, now you can find good reliable PSU without the mod. But if you want a cooling system that stays on after your turned off your comp or want your lights on too, its can be usefull. But in other case, you better find a good one, just as I did.
