    Default rocky surface

    for a rocky surface
    i would use some polyurethane foam and then a sharp knife to form the foam
    i have used some spackle to fill the rought surface of the cutted foam in one of my mods, and it works well

    now i would use different colors in a paint technique

    -> accentuate
    - ground with a dark paint
    - slightly paint highlights with a bright color and few paint on the pencil
    - finish with some clear varnish

    have fun ....

    Making demands of DaveW? My Lord, are you crazy? He'll destroy us all! I would put it like; Ahhem...uh...Dave? Excuse me sir, are you busy cause I can come back if you are, no? Ok. Well it's just that...I mean there's this...well you should really see...how should I put this...THIS BOMB-ASS MOD WITH LAZER BLASTERS AND ALIEN ARMOUR AND, AND, AND, OH MY LORD IT'S TOTALLY FEATURE MATERIAL MAN! Whew, sorry I seem to have lost myself for a moment. Must have been the lazer gun...

    It's a great mod, but it's not quite featured worklog material yet-remember, the quality of your mod isn't that important in getting a featured worklog. To get into featured, this worklog needs more work-in-progress photos, more information on how it was built, painted, how the lighting was wired up, techniques, etc.

    At the moment, it's too heavy on 'today's progress' shots, if you know what i mean. Sorry if i sound harsh here, but I'm being honest in the hope that it helps you improve!

    I'll agree it's a good looking mod though, and I'm following it closely.

    Nice looking mod. I'd really like to see how you did the carving of the Shock Rifle, and How you laid it out. Is it done by hand (knives) or by machine (dremel, saw,etc). The Foam your using does it come in sheets or a can? What is spackle?? (auto body filler, drywall compound, plaster??). The Paint job is great! Do you use Rattle cans (spray paint), is it all Airbrushed, or hand brushed?
    Sorry to be prying I'm just looking at my next mod and have some very detailed peices planed and what to find out how others are doing it.

    Thanks,
    CrazyBillyBob
