Default What program are you using.....

I see you guys making a model of your design in some program but don't know what one you are using. Can you give me a suggestion on what program/s that might be?

Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

That nifty program is completely free. It's called Google Sketchup and you can download it here.

once you get Sketchup up and running you should check out the sketchup tutorials/tips section on the forums, http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/f...play.php?f=105

If I can use it, you can use it. Sit down and do the tutorials-it takes 20 minutes tops-and that's you learned pretty much everything. I taught it to my girlfriend in about 15 minutes. At the start, she was like 'show me', and by the 15 minute mark, she was 'get your damn hands of my mouse'. I left her to it, and when I came back the next day...wow.

The thing about sketchup is you really do feel like you can do anything once you've picked up the basics.

Yeah sketchup is a really great program to learn. Not that hard at all with the video tutorials. Only annoying things is that you can't print in scale in the free version, so you have to use a graphic program to do it.

Well, I've been messing around with it a little and it kinda reminds me of the mapping program "Radiant" really. Not that it works like Radiant, it just reminds me of my mapping days. Do any of you know what I'm talking about by the way?

ive just tried it and having used more intensive 3d cad programs like solidworks before i have to say that i'm not all that impressed with it. to me it's just like an extremely stripped down version of solidworks which maks it a hell of a lot less user friendly if you want to start doing complex stuff. But at the and of the day it's free and enough for a lot of people so i'm not really complaining!
