    Hehe this took me back...

    I have a small amount of training, just enough to keep me safe...

    I had a similar occurrence with some kid with a knife who left me 2 nice scars. I know 3 things for sure;
    1. he was in the hospital longer than me...
    2. he will talk and breath funny until a major operation...
    3. he will never have kids of his own.

    Do never mess with a size 12 steel toe boot.

    ...and Minty, I too boxed in the Navy, although it was not by choice...

    Slug; I had a room mate that was into the Sword fighting. He was extremely proficient at the Rapier and Dagger style of fighting. He taught me for 2 years how to use a Rapier and Dagger and trained me in using a Halberd (which I still have) to defend against and attack a swordsman. In 2 1/2 years I was never able to touch him and was never able to defend. He was too good.

    Speaking of weapons, my friend's dad is a postman by day, and a medieval knight the rest of the time. The boot of his car is filled with broadswords, shields and armour, and whenever I go over to my friend's place, we have a few rounds of Soul Calibre, followed by a few rounds with the broadswords.

    awesome, sounds like my kind of friend's dad. im surprised how many people actually are into that thing... just not in my area to my knowledge. its pretty interesting to watch some of the reenactments, but like i said before, i just like whacking the crap out of stuff. if it happens to be a person who can fight back... all the better.

    I boxed in Atlanta for about 7 years. Did some boxing in the Navy...but it was unnoficial. Great Mistakes...er Great Lakes...was fun. Then started Jiu Jitsu in the military. My father was a CQB instructor for the Army, He had a black belt in TKD and Akido. I love to watch the UFC and Pride Fighting on TV and can't help but wonder how well I would do, thos guys are tough as nails. There's also a new series that comes on called "Natural Weapon" or something like that, It air on fridays and it's pretty awsome, covers all types of fighting styles from all around the world. Either on Discovery or TLC, I cannot remember which.

    The show is called "Human Weapon" and the episode that centered on Eskrima is what started the whole thread...
    "A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, con a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyse a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects"
