The king wants to marry off his only daughter, so he announces that any prince who wants to win her hand must answer a simple riddle.

3 princes turn up to take the challenge. The king tells them: I'm going to put a hat on each of your heads. Each hat will be either black or white. If you see a white hat, raise your hand. The first one to tell me what colour hat they're wearing gets to marry the princess.

So he puts a white hat on all 3 princes' heads. All 3 princes raise their hands.

After a while, one prince says 'my hat is white'

How did he work it out?

Im pretty sure it has something to do with everyones hand is up. So he deduces that all hats are white. But I really can't reason why. It keeps getting stuck in my head.
