HAF Mod 932

Not much happening since my last update.

I have however decided to include a nice LARGE window on the side of my case. Here's where I'm at with this...

I like how this has really opened up the side of the case and this should make seeing the hardware inside ALOT easier. I do intend to install 4 120mm fans onto the plexiglass that will make the window.

So not much has been going on since my last update, school has gotten rather busy. I did pick up some passive rads to add to this mod from 985323 (aka Will). He gave me a great deal on them and shipped them uber quick. THANKS WILL!!!

So with the new rads I had the idea to put them in a windtunnel. Below are the renders of my idea. Beyond the rendering, I haven't gotten much of anything done. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks I'll make some progress.

Not much of an update on the progress of the build, I've been saving funds to get the upgrades for this build. I ordered them this morning. The list is a bit different than I had posted previously, but I think it will serve my purposes just the same. I decided to step back on some of the parts to save money and allow me to get a couple of water cooling upgrades. Overall, I think I'll have similar, if not the same performance for less money and better cooling equipment.

Hey Remy,

I'm new to the case modding scene and i came across what you have done and to be honest i was amazed!!

I was thinking of doing a similar thing to my HAF.

I was just wondering what kinds of Primer and paints you used to do the internal pieces of the case.

Also, where abouts are you putting your radiator, cos there is room at the top of the case for a 240x120 radiator, but im lead to believe this is not a good idea since your keeping the heat inside the case.

Id just like to know ur thoughts.

For the primer I used your basic primer, nothing special. As for the colors, I used a black semi-gloss and rustoleum's Metal-Spek (I think that's what it's called...); blue of course.

As for the radiator placement, I have considered the heat inside the case but have decided it's not an issue. There is so much airflow through the case that I feel it eliminates the potential problem. I will be mounting my 3x120 rad at the top of the case and using stand-offs for the fans to get maximum airflow over the radiator fins.

I will likely be dismantling the case again as I'm not completely satisfied with the paint job. Also, with the plexi window I will be installing, I have to do some trimming on the rear of the case so it will fit.

I was thinking of investigating sandblasting to remove every last spec of paint, polishing, then clearcoating the bare metal to a mirror for a kind of chrome effect. We'll see... I have to find some test pieces off an old case to determine how it would look.

nice m8!
i got a huge concern though, and your not gonna like it.

thoose passive rads are made from alu, and when in contact with all the copper elements in your system it will end in tears
the idea is cool as hell, but the radiators wont do you much good (they arent that effecient, and are not gonna do the biggest difference on a hotheaded core i7!)
the 120.3 will give you sufficient cooling for the i7, but if you are going to cool the 2 260´s then i would suggest more radiator power.
oh, and you wont need that ram cooler
i can only say good for that cpu block though. if you want something a liiittle better, then go for a heatkiller 3.0 full copper version. thats the best waterblock outhere.
