Hi, my name is Aidan.
Been lurking without registering for a few days and thought I'd register so I could share my first full case mod with you all. I'll post the link in here shortly.
It's wonderful to see such great creativity with case mods and I hope that my experiences are well received here.

Just a newbee to the airbrushing and getting a setup together. bought some acrylic enamel waterbased paint for a bit of practice at the airbrushing on Ebay only to find Homebase do the EXACT same stuff for less and no postage to pay. I plan to do most of MY work on my RC model planes that I build & fly but will be trying my hand at the M/cycle helmet and ,if good enough my son-in-law has a bike I can have a go at too.

Hey everybody,
My name is Travis. I've been modding for about 10 years. Built a Lego case when I was 12!! Not much in the last 3 years though. I just started a new project with my Thermaltake Armor+ 600LBWS case.
I have to say though I am pretty inspired by some of the mods posted on TBCS. Pretty awesome guys. Keep it up

Hi, all!
My name is Kevin...and I am from Victoria, Australia. I have been modding for a number of years now...and am a member of several other modding sites...but I thought I would try you guys out for a new (old...but "backbenched" for quite a while!) project I am working on. It will primarily consist of an Intel Server Board SDS2 (still like mucking around with PIII stuff...albeit I also have several P4's) and 2 clear-blue Flexiglow plexi cases that have been joined to make 1 larger server case...
More to come...in my build thread!
Looking forward to comments/opinoins/communications from other members...so feel free to post on my thread...or PM me...
Cheers!:alien:

Hey everyone. I'm a gamer that started to build computers for friends. Then started to get offered money to build them. Pretty cool. Could always use some extra money.
I started to get bored with just building and started to mod. I recently decided to start a small company to try to add to the gamers experience by supplying unique cases for people that couldn't do it themselves. Most of my work is painting theme cases. I stock a few cases but really like to build specific cases for the individual customer's interest (Kinda the American Chopper of Computers).
I'm looking forward to looking at some more of everyone's projects.

Hello all, look forward to my stay here at the best case scenario...
My main reason for joining is for modding an xbox 360 that was given to me for free. I would like to do many things, case wise and cooling wise.
This xbox will be one of the first things ive modded hardware wise, i have done countless jailbreaks on ipod touches and put custom firmware on a few psp's. I also have a ps3 with a 250 gig hd and running linux.
Anxious to learn here on the forums and put my 2 cents in where i can

"Hello altec it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?"
You ain't kidding! It says my last login was: 03-08-2006 at 02:48 AM. Wow!
Last time I was here I had little interest in a intellectual conversation, let alone good grammar, or anything past a one liner!
ANYWAY! I was looking on another site I frequent these days, and I remembered the Doom 3 case mod, and I thought to my self "What was the name of that site?." Didn't take long to remember, and I decided to see if my login still works.
This should be pretty good for me! I'm getting back into modding after having my power supply die in a very strange way. It was fun trouble shooting it! Just glad it didn't take my HDD's, and Motherboard with it like the last time that happened! :blivnk: That wasn't fun!
As a proper introduction. Name is Russell, most call me Spiny. Most of my tinkering these days is with machining. Mostly paintball markers. Gonna scrape some cash together for a new case for my computer, and work on a new case mod. Something simple, classy! My (Now) old computer is still holdin' strong for me!

Hello!
Im a guy from Norway who has been modding for about 15 years. never documented much of it, but it all started with a Chieftec Dragon fulltower, and has evolved alot. ive buildt PC's out of anything. Now i've cooled down and gone the sensible way and got a simple case and kept it clean.
Ive been around here for a few years but never registered, dont know why actually.
My name is Marius, i have a fiancee and we're getting a baby son in september(cant wai!). Im a auto-painter by trade, but im lookig for something else right now. Im mostly into cars, and use all my spare time on my 1985 Honda CRX that im using for autoX.
anyways, im a nice guy with crazy things floating up my head :D

Hi guys!
New kid around here:D
After lots of troubles to join the forum I finally managed to activate an account, anyway....
This is my lil' story:
I've been lurking many sites with the purpose of building a new rig. My old and loyal PC, is pretty much on it's last legs, so...after holding myself for many months, Im getting ready to build a new PC.
Problem is, I live in Mexico city, and quite honestly, the hardware scene here is utter crap
We doesn't get the new/top hardware, the "last" top hardaware tends to be from a prior generation and at high prices; example: when the radeons 2900 series were being reviewed in many sites had a couple weeks of being out in e -tailers and the like, etc...here the "top" card was the 1900 series, and worst, when the 2900 were selling for no more than $400 here the 1900 was selling at $ 9850 PESOS!!!! to give you an idea back then that would ammount to 740 dollars!!! WTF!!! :dead: :?
And even when Newegg,Mwave and the likes had some nice offers....THEY DO NOT SELL TO MEXICO, so NAFTA, closeness etc etc were useless for me, damn it
Anyway, gladly enough, I contacted a guy that can get stuff from the US at reasonable prices. So Im moving towards the goal finally.
Now, I do want to ask to you, the expert modders, from some advice-comments-suggestions; so thats why i kept on trying to log in here.
Im sure many if not most of my questions may seem ignorant on the themes I'll be touching (aka watercooling and some moding works requested) hope you dont mind'em, Im really a newbie on such uncommon stuff as modding so, with that said, I'll start posting, hopefully in the right sub forums, if it isn't the case, my apologies:blivnk:
So here we go................

Hello to everyone.
I am new and highly appreciate if someone can help me.
Given 2 materials of sheet metals have the same properties except for the tensile strength, would it be possible for the one with higher tensile value break easier than the one with lower tensile values?
Elongation and hardness are almost the same.
A technically sound response is highly appreciated.
thanks,

Hi all, longtime reader, finally registered.
Will spend a few hours porting over my current worklog, Mithril, as well as adding my upcoming project, The Dead Marshes.
If it's not nailed down (and sometimes even if it is) I'll mod it. I also have been building PCs for 10 years, have a background in such diverse areas as auto body and music instrument repair, and have been watercooling since crossdrilled Slot A blocks and '77 Bonneville heater cores.
If you guys will forgive me for having to do it, I can also post the Twilight mod I'm doing for my wife. *shudder*...
Honestly though, I'll as I said, mod anything I can.

Where to begin...I'm 18, am hoping to do a Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Studies (BCMS) at University next year. Funnily enough, the MOD that got me thinking about doing one of my own, was Boddaker's Battlestar Galactica. I love that series, (the new one, haven't seen the old), and am currently designing a MOD like something off Alien. Weirdly enough, I based the design on an image on the Fallout 3 Artbook. I'll try and post some pictures of my design/s sometime, but it doesn't quite look right at the moment. So put that aside for now and moved onto something a little smaller...

Just signed up a week or so ago, been lurking for a bit longer. Decided me and another bud of mine are gonna each do our own case mods. Came here for some inspiration as well as some tips and tricks as its my first time modding. Built plenty of custom PCs, with minor modding, but the next case I do I'm gonna do just a hair more.

2nd post! :D
I found this site a couple months ago while looking for something completely different and got sidetracked. Awesome stuff here! SO much great info! I hope that I can contribute something eventually.
I'm about to begin a ammo can case project, right after I find a suitable ammo can. :D
Later...
edit:
I work for a hosting/support company, but I have spent lots of time modifying cars and other stuff besides computers. I also have a photography site in the works.

hello all.
I've been modding PCs for years, and I've just started to discover the multiple communities of modders online that showcase their work like the artwork it should be recognized as. I'm currently working on my fifth time consuming mod, that follows a Halo theme, with a little hodgepodge futuristic sci fi industrial flair in the mix. I'll be posting some worklogs soon

I pretty much have no idea how i am going to do what i want to do, but i will discuss that in another thread. my friend is all excited that i am interested in changing the look of my pc, but he is unsure of how to help. i suppose that's it so off i go to post my question!

Hello Everyone!
I joined the forum because I've been building my own PCs for the last 10 years and enjoy the experience of altering and modding my equipment. I wouldn't say I've gone as far as some of the mods here but I love the work.
I don't have any major mods in mind soon but i do plan on swapping my gaming rig out of a Thermaltake armor and into a Cosmos S this week.
I personally think modding is not just something people do, its a lifestyle. I find myself making tweeks to everything. i'm swapping out the shell and trackerball on my blackberry curve this week as well.

Hi,
I've joined today because I am modifying an old Dell GX60 case. While stripping it, I discovered it has a 'nice' zinc coated metal case under the hideous plastic. It also has that nice clam-shell opening, and a slim CD player.
I've fitted an HP mobo, but, of course, the power supply doesn't fit any more. I think I'll mount the power supply as an outrigger. I also enjoyed cutting a big hole over the CPU fan, so it could push the air somewhere.
Lastly, I will look for pin-outs for the front panel connectors, since the Dell is quite different from the HP.
And thank you to the person who sets the security standards nice and high. I look forward to a spam-free membership.

I didn't think to check for this thread, so this isn't my first post. However, I joined about a week ago. I've met a few of the regulars around here in the TBCS chat. I used to post on CaseModGod.com but haven't since it went all private, so I'm not really new to modding. I've got a NES pc in the worklogs, and custom guitars in the other stuff section. I look forward to learning some new stuff, and admiring all the talent that lives around here.

Hello all. I'm completely brand new to modding, but interested on getting into it. I've begun the research stage of my modding career. I was introduced to your website by another member. I love the way this site is organized and am extremely impressed by the mods I have seen in the gallery page of this site. That's why I decided to join. Well that, and for the fact that Paul Capello has simply created some awesome mods. So when you want to learn something new, you've got to learn from the best. Well enough brown nosing for now. I look forward to someday posting my mod on this site, and comment on other's works of art. Take care.

Hey everyone. I found this site today while Googling for tips on manipulating acrylic for devious purposes. After several water cooling incidents (read: costly misadventures), I decided I'd had enough water cooling fun, and I'm in the works of bumping it up a notch. Water cooling isn't as cool as submerging everything in a tank of mineral oil...so that's where I stand today. I have designed a completely custom case on paper and as soon as I get 3DS Max up and running again I'll have a 3D model to help work out the inherent kinks in my plans.
It'll be my first time building a custom case but I know computer guts pretty well. With a bit more research I hope to be an instant pro-modder so I can sell-out and live the easy life...or maybe so I can just get this first project done.

Hello, I am new here as well as computer modding, but I am very interested in learning new things and passing knowledge on.
I was drawn to this forum , in particular, because the members seem older and more mature and intelligent.(not that there aren't any mature and intelligent 8 year old kids out there)
Right now I am concentrating on working with a store bought :( computer.

Hi everyone. I'm Johan, a Swedish university student. I'm new to this forum, but not new to case building. I've also done a bit of overclocking.
My current project is almost finished - I've built a custom acrylic case (I'll post a few pics soon), and I have only the CPU and a case fan left to buy.

Alright, the nick's Nutman (real name: Mads Perschke) and I'm a danish modder.
Currently working on my 1st mod, which has been app. 1,5 years on its way now - due to some reeeeeaaaaaally bad planning and lots of changes during the process.
So, I apologize for the rather HUGE worklog I have posted here at TBCS (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?p=257139#post257139) - it's absolutely ridiculous, but if you need something that's guaranteed to make you fall asleep, have a look!

Ralph, in Ohio.
Building a mythTV system to replace a Tivo that our local Time Warner cable system has made useless by moving analog channels to their 'digital tier'.
I'm dropping cable TV completely, since I watch mostly PBS and C-SPAN anyway.
Starting with components purchased in 2008:
Antec NSK2480 mATX case (looks nice):)
(Antex 'earthpower' supply blew out first week)
AMD690GM-AM2 motherboard :)
AMD 64x2 processor (dual-core, 512k L2 cache):glasses:
ATI 3600-series PCI express video card [doesn't coexist with ATI motherboard card]
Pinnacle HDTV PCI tuner card SHOULD work with Linux
Antex VFD display (software works, but UI is poorly designed):(
Alternating between OS platforms:
Linux (Ubuntu 9, moving to a current Mythbuntu) :D
Windows XP SP3 (which broke two MIDI interface drivers when installed)

Hello all, been wandering around this wonderful site you guys have here. Lots of impressive work going on here.
Been building my own rigs for about 8 years now but have never tackled a custom/modded case. My current comp is just about at its end, so i figure the next one I build should get a custom case. So i plan on doing a one for my current rig for some practice, then doing something a little more complicated when I build my next one.
Well i still got a lot of material to cover before I start asking ?'s so ill be around L8R

Hello all.
I have been visiting the main site for a while now, seeing the beautiful and innovative mods that you do here. I'm not a total noob to computers, but I'm more of an end user than anything else. And I'd like to change some of that.
I learn by lurking, so you may not see a lot of posts from me.
I have a tendency to use the search function on forums before I post anything.
I look forward to learning a lot more from all of you.
Thanks in advance.

Hey all,
I joined the site a while back but never really posted anything because I was busy with studies & job hunting and forgot. Just remembered I had an account here so thought I'd pop back and join the community. (^_^)
I've been building computer systems for about 3 years, mainly for myself and family. Had a few plays around with hacking up a case or two but those never really went anywhere. I'm planning to get a bit more into modding though it may be difficult with a limited workspace... hopefully some people with have suggestions on how to work in semi-small spaces with noise restrictions. =D
Also need to find some good UK suppliers for parts.
It'll probably be a fair while before I start building a physical case mod, though I've started doing basic designs for my Hiper Osiris case in Google SketchUp.

welcome andy! as for limited space, I used to use my dremel in the kitchen @ my old apartment and used a garbage can to catch all metal shavings. worked quite well! (the ex wife didnt like it too much, but she tolerated it. :P )

I think I'd probably get killed if I start doing work in the kitchen, I think I'd have just enough space in my office room for a small workstation though it might be a little cramped with all my computer bits scattered around.

Best Regards to all at TBCS. I have a minor interest in computer building and have put together a couple of mini towers with the help of my friend John who is what I would regard as a master. Keeping up to date with the latest technological innovations is mind boggling to me. I'm 64 years old and my interest in computers began 20years ago. The changes now come at a hyper-acclerated rate. One of my current hobbies if flying remote control helicopters. I did a search on Google for info on airbrush painting and there seems to be a wealth of knowledge on this site regarding airbrushing.

I've been modding my first case for a couple of months now
and would love to get feedback on what I have done and gain some new ideas.
I love the sharing of ideas and seeing how creative other people are.
I love the concept of modifying and repurposing.

Hi all, I've always been interested in case design/modding, and now I finally have a site where I can look at people's ideas to get my creative juices flowing (I'm sure it's just the creative ones..). All my life I have been modding my cases, really ghetto-fab, tho, and ATM I am working on one. You all may laugh, but things are much different in a third world country (yes, I live in one of those...they still exist). The mod I am doing right now involves the following - Generic Aluminum case (this one was for about $10), 300w Power Supply, some old motherboard, Intel Celeron 1.2Ghz, 256kbcache, 133fsb, 4x256mb sdram 133, 2x40gb ide hd (hopefully I can get these in raid). The motherboard does not have an AGP slot, so I won't be able to use my Geforce4 MX440... Using the original Heatsink, along with a chassis-mounted cpu fan pulled from a dell optiplex. Using same concept as the Dell, except i'm building my own shroud out of cardboard and tape, and I might end up "turbo-charging" it by adding more cardboard on the bottom and add a fan to push into the sink as well. Will have photos of this in a thread soon, and I might end up showing off my ghetto lighting skills. Should be one of my more fun projects.

can i post pics of my case mod diary of work in progress anywhere on this site. any help would be gre8t thanks.
Again, welcome, and again, yup lol - there's a forum here (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=36) for works in progress, and another one here (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=35)for anything you've finished and want to share...
You all may laugh, but things are much different in a third world country (yes, I live in one of those...they still exist).
And a third welcome, and yes, we might laugh at first because we're all nasty horrible people. No seriously - modding is all about what you do with something, not what you start off with, so dive right in, you'll be more than welcome here...

Hey Everybody,
New guy here, never modded before but I have been doing straight builds since the PC XT/AT days of the 1980's. My last biuld was around 3 to 4 years ago, kinda fell off the scene since. Starrting a new build soon and really impressed with what is out there now. Big changes, even more so in the prices. Hell I remember when a hot 486 would cost an arm and a leg plus other human parts thrown in. You guessed it I'm a little on the "old" side, 38 to be exact so bear with me on some of my oint of views. I was doing some research and stumbled on this site. Looks pretty cool! Thanks in advance. Oh yeah from South Jersey just outside of Philly!!

Hey I'm glad I finally took the plunge and signed up. I have been looking at the mods done by the members here for awhile. Totally awesome. As an artist who mainly does mixed media and altered art I found myself fascinated with the art being created here with pc's. Just so the forum machinery will stop making me feel guilty for not posting, I'll drop an intro...
I'm Robotguy (http://robotguy.net/blog). I don't normally do PC case mods, though I did put a mini-ITX in a nice oak card catalog box (http://robotguy.net/jukebox/jb_inside.jpg) a while back to use as a network MP3 Jukebox. I am currently working on a desktop photobioreactor (http://www.algaegeek.com/) (AKA algae tank) and have been perusing the TBCS forum for inspiration and how-to's. Specifically, I have been fascinated by Filimon's steampunk work and hope to do something along the same lines, although I can guarantee my attention to detail is several orders of magnitude lower. Maybe I'll post a pic or two in the Misc section...

Greetings one and all!
How I found TBCS? Stumbled on this forum recently from researching an upcoming case mod project while I am down sick. I've already found alot of useful info. Unfortunately, I am still at lost on a couple things that I am hoping to find help with.
And as for me, I've been working with PC's for the past few years, modding my first one back in '02. Never seem to have enough time to do all the projects I'd like.
Take it easy :)

Hello all,
I first saw The Doom 3: Mars City computer case mod in about 2006, thought that it's cool, and showed the hyperlink that week to a friend who also likes Doom. As time went on, I saw more and more mods for computer cases and USB thumb drives. It became more and more interesting, so I decided to join.

Hello people,
I'm fairly new here. And i thought i'd introduced myself a while back, it turned out i didn't..
I'm Jos Vredeveld, 20 years old and living in the Nteherlands.
Modding my 4th case now, called Reverse˛ (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21629). Powered by several big companies who decided to sponsor me some gear.
I'm also a webdesigner and fulltime student at this time. So, plenty of creativity, but not much time to show it.
I'd like to invite you to my project thread (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21629) and hope you will comment aswell.

Hello there from Sweden !!!
Somewhat new to the forum, have been lurking around for a while and registered some time ago.
Doing my first post here right now and hoping for many more :)
I don't have a project running just this moment but have some stuff planned.
Earlier mods contains of some re-painting and smaller stuff like hiding cables, so no biggie really.
Really interested in doing a scratch build but that i think have to wait untill i've done a little more serious casemod, or maybe not, we'll see.
Thanks

Hi all. I like what i see in the way of mods on this site. As someone who has been interested in all things mechanical for about 30 years and in the last couple of years PC's, i am keen to try and mate the two. A lot of you modders have already achieved this and to you i say well done. I am only to happy to lend an ear if anyone has any technical questions (mechanical).
Thanks,

Hi boys and girls. I'm new to the forums but,not to the world of systems or customizing.
Just built my new interim system (which will become a HTPC later). 5 years after my last build....yeah,it was good enough to stand the test of time,it was time for an upgrade. More upgrades and mods for the future are planned.

Hi everyone,
I just found this place while searching around the internet for information on unique case designs. I am planning to do some of my own case designs eventually, when I can find the time. I've been a mechanical engineer & machinist for several years, and I have my own business building custom race car simulators.
I'm also trying to hunt down a custom computer builder who I met at nVision a year or two ago, who was from Washington, and showing off his incredible skills. Unforunately, I lost his business card and his email address (he had emailed me once). I just thought I would mention that in case he somehow ran across this post and saw this... if so, please contact me!

I hate introductions so here goes...
I used to build PCs myself, but it's been years, and when I say years, I don't mean just a few, I mean about 10. Technology has advanced enough to make my eye twitch.
Now, thanks to Kayin, I am starting to get back into it. I'm a fairly fast learner, so hopefully it won't take me long to catch up.

I do want to get better again. Sorry if it sounded forced, but as I said, I'm not good at introductions.
Let it be known to all that I do want to learn and that there is no force involved, not a gun to the head or anything else.

Hopefully I might get a project going soon depending on funding and free time as I'm currently studying industrial design.

I'm actually surprised I'm a new member here. I was modding back in 2002 and for the next few years I thought I had joined just about every case mod forum in the world. Maybe not. ;)
After a heart attack and the discovery of lung disease in 2005, I was unable to continue doing what I enjoyed so much. I built what I thought was going to be my last system and hung up my Dremel. It was the worst mod I ever did - no paint, no patience. I feel very fortunate that it died before me.
Now I have to build another new system. I'm using a new laptop (HP Pavilion), but I prefer a desktop PC. I have a small apartment now and a smallish desk, so I thought a SFF machine might be just the thing. I can't do much modding to it (nothing that would require a respirator or that creates inordinate amounts of dust, any smoke or fumes), but I think I can do enough to satisfy my longing to mod again.
Most of the forums I was active on in the first half of this decade are either gone (like my own TheMadModder.com) or closer to death than I am (it's okay, I don't mind joking about it - I'm a realist). Some are inappropriate for this project and some I just don't like anymore.
I recognize several names from back in the day, so I have a good feeling about this. I hope you guys can put up with a grumpy old guy - even older now than I was then, but maybe a little less grumpy. I came to mod, with a little help and guidance from you people.

Hey Everybody!
Although I've been building and toying around with computers for a long time now, I just recently got into case modding. It was mainly out of necessity, as I wanted to do a system build that needed to shoehorn a lot of big components into a reasonably small case. Needless to say, this required some pretty heavy modification to the stock case. At first I was really unhappy about needing to do the mod, but along the way I found out that its really a lot of fun, and allows for a lot more creativity than a standard build. I'll post my first build log soon, just want to put the finishing touches on my first real mod.
Happy modding!

Hello everyone I am new to the site and I LOVE it:D. Looks like a lot of very talented people are on here, this is a great place for inspiration. I am new to moding computer cases, but I have been fabricating parts for Paintball guns, nitro/electric RC Trucks, 4wheelers, off-road trucks, and even made a few parts for some choppers. I am very excited to start on one of my million ideas.

And I have been bulding computer since I was 16 and just started modding about few months ago. I got to school in Chicago and I am studying to be a programmer both for games and simulations.
I have a few worklogs on my main website.

I'm new here too. I've only been modding for nine months, so I'm not that good yet.
I got my current computer case for free(found it next to a dumpster) and I adopted it. ^__^(don't know where the emoticon button is)
anyway, I have modded it a bit(addind a fan, side window(really bad side window, which I hope to replace), sleeving, cable management ect.), but I hope I can re-do it better in the future!
