Hello all!
After an extensive read of a fellow Canadian, J-Roc's Citrus G5 mod project log, I was inspired to see if I can do something similar. I have been lurking and finally decided its time to register, hopefully mod my version of the G5 and post it here. Have learned a lot from many of the amazing modders here on TBCS and every time I come back, its something new to see and learn! Good to be here.

I met Paul Capello and the Doom 3 casemod at Maker Faire a few years back. Too awesome. I've been a model builder for a long time, and have been building PCs since high school. Currently working on my own casemod and hopefully will be able to enter it in some competitions. Enjoying the site already, and looking forward to adding more of my mods as time, money and victims permit.

Hey everyone, I'm Jon. I've been building PCs for a long time but am new to modding. For my first project, I've decided to do a mineral oil submerged PC with a monster lab theme. I've started a blog to document it all here (http://computingwithoil.wordpress.com). Hopefully it turns out well! I'm completely blown away by some of the mods I've seen on this site and it inspires me on a deep level to do something really cool.

Hey everyone. New to the forums, always looking for new inspirations and to stretch my modding further. Nothing spectacular yet, just basic "keep it simple" based on funding. Transitioning from the Military soon, looking forward to a nice bump in pay and will be putting that towards my computer habit. Hope to show the fruits of my labor here. Now on to more browsing

Hi everyone, I'm Nick, and I'm not an alcoholic.
I currently live in San Diego, and I'm an oil changer/tire boy at an evil auto shop we refer to as "hell" or "this darned place.) (edited for language).
I'm currently studying to get my A+ certification, so I can get out of the auto repair industry.
I found this site on google and have been lurking for awhile. Love the designs... Especially the Ferrari HTPC. That's dope.
Anyways, I got a huge older abit server case that can fit 6 hard drives and 5 5.25 drives, and what seems like 3 power supplies. I call it the monster. I'm wondering about what I can do to it. Reason for joining. I've always wanted to customize a case. I can build computers left and right, and troubleshoot them, but modifying cases is beyond my expertise... Until now.
Great forum guys lookin forward to seein more awesome builds. (like the vodka bottle coolant rez, that was insanely awesome.).

Easy.
3 Seperate computer systems, for different purposes (e.g. surfing the web, gaming, and something else you can think of on your own, guest pc maybe?)
Watercool each one with a seperate loop and color scheme, and make switching between them a peace of cake! (e.g. 3 way toggle switch, or something :D)
And then of course make some cool case design mods, because this threesome pc would be awesome, and must look awesome!
Good luck! :D

Long time lurked finally decided to join.
Will start up a thread on my htpc/nas when parts come in over the next few weeks.
When I get around to it I will pull my arcade machine/jukebox out and finish it as well as take pic of my current mild modded case that is going in the arcade machine.
Need to disemble clean and finish a part of the case mod first.
Although soon will have time as full time work let's up next week for me.
Look forward to being around the forum.

Hello there, TBCS.
I'm a computer enthusiast who got into building PCs about four years ago. I haven't built anything that was particularly fancy, just air cooled rigs in regular cases without much else to them. Over the past few months, however, I've been itching to do something a bit more involved and creative than that. Hopefully soon I'll have some absolutely amazing (or at least reasonably acceptable) case mod project to showcase.

I've been looking around the site and most of the mods are amazing. i work on computers for a living and always wanted to build my own one off custom rig, so i started the design phase for a scratch built borderlands gaming super computer. any advise is welcome. i still need to do a mock-up of the pc after i learn how to use sketch-up better.
see you in the logs.

Hi.
I've built systems, and I've got a couple of frankenbeasts running now (missing sides, open cases, things just hanging out of place cuz they weren't meant to be in the case) but I have some ideas and some thoughts, and with a wife and moving to a new house, I may have to move my toys up to where peoples can see them.
I am here for research, ideas, things to add to my kind of plans to see if I can build some toys that will be allowed to be viewable by folks in general.
Site looks great, and I'm itching to get started.

Hello world I've joined TBCS so that I can further my knowledge on building computers and with my airbrushing hobby I airbrush design on the computer cases, right now I'm working on a close friends computer and I'm adding a John Wayne design on one side and a skull with pistol's on the other side. I've thought about calling it young guns lives on it. But the one thing that is puzzling me is that every time it starts loading up it would get the windows xp logo and it would restart over and over and I've racked my brain until I end up with a migraine. But any help would be most grateful and a big Thank you in advance.

Hi all im all new here on TBCS iv been reading up on alot of helpful subjects which has helped in the past.
But now im mega stuck and my need to pick some your brains for clues on what to do.
OK iv read the windows 7 formating help on TBCS im trying to format my pc from vista to my new windows 7 i got last week.
Iv loaded in my windows 7 already and i now have windows old files.
My problem is my pc is custom built and when i try to format my pc to try and remove the windows old files i don't get the option to delete them when following the instuctions on installing my windows 7.....I think this may be the problem the store i payed to build my pc did not program my computer properly and im missing vital files which i need to format my pc.
Question is there another way of deleting those windows old files if so how?
Massive thankyou in advance guys.
TLHarrell
08-01-2012, 12:29 AM
You need to boot into a different system in order to reformat the drive. You need to boot into ANYTHING else using a CD (your Win7 install media) or something like a Linux live CD (like Ubuntu). Either one should give you drive tools like FDisk to wipe and reassign partitions. Obviously only do this if you do not want any of the original data from the drive. You did make a backup, right?
For further help, please post in the proper forum section.

Hi Modders,
I joined specifically because I'm interested in briefcase computers. Actually I don't have time to build 'em so I'm looking for a reliable modder who has done briefcase stuff and might want to do more.
Unlike most briefcase PCs, ours can and should use laptop guts instead of desktop mobos and power supplies. Basically take a new 15" or 17" laptop, remove everything from the case, mount it well in a secure aluminum briefcase with screen inside the lid. How hard can that be?!
Briefcase modders who can meet deadlines with quality work, be in touch!

Personally, I don't think I've ever set enough time aside to finish anything you guys have. Maybe if I hang around enough, I'll pick up some good habits and stop leaving my projects half-finished...

out2_R = spkout R
out2_L = spkout L
out_ret = (might just be another ground)
J_sense =

That's all I've got. I would do some google-fu, but I've got to write right now.

Hi all
I've been thinking of doing my first scratch build for some time but kinda need to pull my finger out now as I've got a lot of work being done on my flat in a few months, so I need to get my PC off the bench and into a case before then so I can move it and I really don't want to spend £100 on a case that isn't even what I want (I'm limited in cases I can buy anyway, due to the size of my Antec CP-850 PSU).
Anyway, love the pun in the sitename, which was one of the things that drew me to this site :) I'll post my ideas in the rookies section and ask for advice there.

Hey all, I've been voiding warranties and modding computers ( along with cars, houses, guns, etc ) for decades. Not much of a forum dweller but the exchange of information, new ideas, etc. id crucial. I picked this particular forum because here I find more of what I'm looking for, well done TBCS!!!
I have a mod that that's been knocking around in my head for a while but it's still fragmented, myself I can build, weld, cut, paint just about anything it's design that's difficult. So I'm here to learn and share.

Welcome Powerglide! Nice to have you hear. Feel free to post sketches or 3d models of ideas to get feedback or design ideas. Some people can just build and figure it out as they go. I go back and forth depending on the project (and if I have money). If I don't have money then sometimes it's really fun to just make a 3d model of the computer.

Hi everyone! My name is mike and though some very fortunate circumstances I'm in the middle of a sponsored build named Unforgiven
The Metallica Build. I'm just an normal working guy, but do to some fantastic friends and great company's I've been given the opportunity to do a major build on a 900D. Out of necessity I do a lot of my work by hand, Which is both satisfying and painful depending on what I've got myself in to ha ha. I Love to be in the modding community to learn from the incredible modders that amaze me with their skills and creativity. Glad to be here! see you in the forums.

just joined this forum and hope to solve some of my nagging electronics problems here. For a start, I have a project at hand were wireless data received by (arduino + xbee combination) connected to windows 7 pc running megunolink is inconsistent with the data sent by another xbee wirelessly enabled arduino stand alone project. I know this because , when i use (xbee + xbee adapter) connected to the pc running xctu, i get the actual data sent (on the Xctu terminal). Why is this ?. I neet to plot the data received with megunolink which only interacts with arduino boards, I wish it could with the xctu. Can someone tell how to resolve the problem ? Tanx in advance.
By the way, i am from Nigeria, and much of this electronics stuff is not our way of life, but i am hoping to change that in my own little way. So pardon me if you think the solution to this challenge is too easy for me to seek help.

Hello all, just joined this site after looking for a community to talk about my computer plans/projects with. Just starting to get into custom computers. Had a friend build me a budget gaming rig about a year ago and I'm starting to get into case modding. Just simple stuff for now, not sure if I'll get into the hardcore mods or not. Anyway, here is what I'm working on now:

I am not new to this forum.
I lost my friend Bucko nearly 8 years ago (Feb 2008 ). Since then I have changed considerably. I am back now and see this forum has grown massively. I also see a lot of old members are still around.
I hope I can help others learn and grow in their tech knowledge if needed.
Thanks

Welcome Jermin8tor!
I remember when we lost Bucko. It's weird being on a forum long enough that you get to know people, and then weirder when they die and are memorialized, and then weirder still for those events to have happened so long ago.
If I ever find a spare minute I promise I'll start posting more again.

Hello Jermin8tor and welcome back!
Its hard to believe it's been 8 years, I too still remember that day vividly. I do miss his sense of humor, and his wacky projects.
Kick your shoes off and relax while your here, you are among friends, and we are glad to have you around.

My leaving was more of a falling out. I was in a bad way after Bucko died. I live in America and he lived in Australia, but he became a really good friend of mine.
I was young, a new father, very frustrated with life, and lost the only real friend I had to help me through it.
I apologize to Paul and other mods here who had to endure that.
I did finally finish my "Finding Nemo" mod, but I sold it years ago to help pay rent and any pictures I had of it are long gone from the data I lost during my divorce.
At any rate, I promise I am not here to make any waves (for those who have figured out who I am). I am only here to browse, reminisce, and be as helpful as I can.

Hi, everyone! Newbie here. I'm glad to have found this great online PC building community. I'm hoping to learn more from the other members here. Cheers!
By the way, just in case anyone’s interested, my neighbor is selling an American Force Trax SS and Nitto tire package (https://4wheelonline.com/af-independence-ss-ironman-all-country-mt-package.298675.0). If anyone’s interested, feel free to PM me.

Welcome aboard! There is a lot of good information still here, but unfortunately there aren't a lot of people posting these days.
