    Default red, red lighting

im looking for recommendations for a nice red lighting for my case.

ive tried a couple cold cathodes and the ones ive tried either looked pinkish or orange-ish, im looking for the nice glow of cathodes. however i wouldnt be opposed to a soft LED color either.

    suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well you could try covering the lights with red film, that might get you a redder red.
People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.

That might block out most of the light, though. It would probably work ok for white lights, though.

Well, red should flow right through red. Any other colour and you'd lose a fair bit of brightness; obviously, it would be dimmer the different the colour was from the original light source.

you want real red then LEDs are probably your best bet - CCFLs tend to be more pink than red, as you've probably already realised

red cathodes suck. you get anywhere from pink to orange. you never know what your gonna get. Just use some led's man, seriously. I got mine from www.ledshoppe.com and I'm pretty happy

Red LEDs or CC's will shine through red plex or red film, but it will not be nearly as bright as a white LED or CC. I've ran tests of my own--see my worklog for Frankenstripe.

Red LEDs work the best, without any film. Mark's link for Ledshoppe is probably the best. I have searched the net for resistors, and believe it or not, Radio Shack has the best price on resistors, especially if you buy in bulk.

Good luck, and I personally cannot wait to see the end result!

really? I bought my resistors through the same site... while they don't necessarily have the widest variety of resistors I bought a butt load for like 5 or 10 bucks....
