hello again everyone. im back and this time i have something to share. but before for i jump the gun id like to explain a bit. i got the basic idea of this from various places but the biggest inspiration was this guy.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ght=tech+bench

now i know there are many similarities but i assure you i changed as much as i can, and my sketch is just a rough idea of what im going to do. with out me blabbering any more here are some pictures of the thing.

the front side of it. i have 8 hardrive bays. each drive will be screwed to a 1/4 piece of mdf. then the mdf will be slotted into the 1.2 inch mdf walls. then i will probably place something in front of the so they wont slide out.

the rads that are used are swiftech 360s i have 1 of them. most of the hardware on there will actually be used. if you guys would like more pictures, or have question/ suggestions im all ears. still working on a name and the color scheme.

well that is all for now.will start posting more when i get the mdf board.

*EDIT* when i actually start the build process will this be moved or will i have to start a new thread?

Heheh, I love radial arm saws.

Looks good so far, I like the dual 360's.

You're using a D5? It'll be more than enough. Incidentally, a DDC would be more than enough too. You've seen Spawn-Inc's setup, right? Giant external set of 3x 3x120 rads a few feet above his case? Even that would run perfectly fine on a single D5. The only reason he has 2 is...because he had 2. And my setup, with a DDC pushing through 4 blocks, a 1x120 rad, 3x120 rad, and 3x140 Monsta, I have power left over.

..well...I do say that a lot...though they have been doing better recently. ..I still can't bring myself to trust their PSUs though, one too many bad experiences. Though, if Western Digital could pull themselves around and become one of the leaders in HDD quality, maybe there's hope for Tt yet.

    MINNI UPDATE

i decieded on a color scheme. green and black. i colored the case in. i also changed the size f the hardrive racks from 1/4 to 1/8 acrylic. green acrylic that size is very hard to find cheaply. i just hope the 1/8 will be strong enough to hold the hard rives in up like they will be. if any one here dose not think the 1.8 acrylic will not hold the hardrive please speak up. also does any one know where i can buy 1/4 neon green acrylic. and no spend a whole lot.

well tell me what you guys think of it so far.

looks nice! on a side note, if you go to the file menu in sketchup you can export a 2D image, that'll make for cleaner pics not a necessity but I thought I'd throw it out there

I like it. And if that's how you are planning on mounting the 1/8 acrylic and HDDs, you have nothing to worry about. In a configuration like that, it wouldn't matter if each HDD weighed 100lbs...it would hold it.

It looks more yellow than green, but I've never bought any florescent stuff, so maybe it's just the pic?
    I'll procrastinate tomorrow.
