    Default First Liquid Cooled

Alright so I am not very enthused about liquid cooling but I atleast want to try it to say yeah I have done that. Problem is I am on an extreme budget right now and trying to decide if I want to bring down my main computer to test and fit water cooling and all that jazz or if i want to try it on my server. My current rig is an am2 socket and my server is a socket a. If anybody has any parts they would like to sell or has any ideas please leave them here.

hmm well it all really depends on what you have. like there is a swiftech storm block for 30 if you have a duel core it may work. i think the most expensive thing will probably be the pump and rad.

i just built my loop at the beginning of the year it cost me close to 350 but i kinda went top notch on the block.

that block should work on cooling the cpu in your system specs. ive herd it can cool a core2duo at 3.8.

    cou block - http://jab-tech.com/Swiftech-Storm-U...2-pr-3022.html

mouting stuff- (might have to get these from swifttech) http://jab-tech.com/Swiftech-Storm-A...43.html#buynow

rad + res - http://jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCR220-QP-Res-pr-3975.html (that has a fill cap on it).

    pump - small http://jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCP-355...p-pr-3510.html
    Bigger http://jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCP655-...r-pr-3803.html

tubing - id go with primochill it is what i have been using and i haven't had any problems. always get a bit extra.

fititngs- http://jab-tech.com/Dangerden-FB-Fat...b-pr-4181.html (these are nice and fit tightly in the tubing.

pump top for small pump - http://jab-tech.com/Watercool-DDC-Pu...l-pr-4607.html ( if you get the big pump you cant use 1/2 tubing the small one is for 3/4 i do believe. but you can ge that top and use fittings on it.

my final price is 2.11 not including shipping and fans. you can get high speed yate loon fans from them to for like 3 bucks. so all in all it will probably be around 250 roughly.

you can probly go cheaper if you want to there are hceap things like TT setups but they suck really bad they are sometimes worse then good aircolling. if you want something like that tt is having a b stock sale you can get a setup for like 50 bucks. but i wouldn't recommend it.

oh yeah and for the liquid use just normal distilled water with a silver kill coil. the fesser stuff just clogs up the tubes and block. if you want to use dye that is your choice it may dilude after a while and stain the tubing and blocks.

    thats my 25 cents lol

I wouldn't experiment on a machine that you would dearly miss if an accident were to happen to it so as to prevent it from ever working again... Not saying that the risk is high, but it's still exists. Also, compression fittings, as opposed to barbs, are safer and more reliable in my experience.
With a limited budget, you may want to save up a bit to get some decent parts.

I would recommend going with one of these kits from DangerDen if you're not sure what you want. They're well priced (starting at $157), high quality, and have everything you need to set up a loop.

I would not shy away from the Thermaltake kits. I just finished my review on the Thermaltake Prowater 850i and was able to hit 4.0 GHZ At 60c on my AMD Phenom II X4 965BE 140W. Under stock clocks it held a 48c temp.
