    Default Samsung 205B

Is this a good monitor? It's gotten good reviews all round but i'm not really sure if it's worth the AU529$ i'm going to waste on it. I'd like to hear what you guys think before i actually buy it.

So tell me what you think? Is it worth it's money? Or is there another 20" LCD that can best this one?

    Right here goes it:

One small niggle I found after some research.

    http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...readid=1984283

The monitor cannot tilt back only forward.

On the samsung site your model is listed as been able to tilt in any direction and with a higher RRP.

    http://www.samsung.com/au/products/m...itor/205bw.asp

So before you buy it if you are buying it from a store get the sales guy to take it out of the box and check it out.

Here is a thread on forum of the atomic maximum power computing magazine site. Where one user is grappling with the same problem

    http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=2&c=19&t=715

Also make sure your graphics card can use the resolution 1680 x 1050 which is used by most 20" screens. Otherwise you will end up with an expensive 19" screen. Also alot of games can't go wide screen so you won't be using the whole picture area.

Dell offers a 20" screen for only $489 delivered. (One on the far right)

    http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/prod...hs1&l=en&s=dhs

The Dell montior has a better contrast ratio of 800:1 over Samsung 600:1

    Here is your monitors specs

    http://www.samsung.com/au/products/m...Specifications

To find out about how to get games to work with wide screens go here:

    http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/

Opinion: If it was me I would get the Dell sand save the money also it is future proof as it supports HDCP.

But it is up to you.

I hope this helps you make a informed purchasing decision.

thxs for the help simon, i see you're getting a little bit confused with the 205BW and the 205B in there. + the price i'm going to pay is 529$ for the 205B, not the 700ish price listed on the website =]. + rep for the post, it helped me look at some other monitors and i'm now reconsidering the Viewsonic VX2235 model. The salesman said that it was crap but now i'm actually looking to stick with my first choice.

    still the hunt continues =]

Edit: Was wondering if there are any non widescreen LCD monitors out there above 20inches which don't cost over a grand?

i was actually looking at the Samsung 931C. The specs look amazing on it. Where's the catch? lolz.
2000:1 contrast ration, 2ms responce time? 439$ for a 19" LCD like that is looking like a pretty sweet deal right now.
